Default Oil Catch Can Options

So I searched everywhere for an OCC overview thread, but I've failed to find anything that covers all of them and their attributes.

Anyway, I'm about to buy one and after looking at all threads for each one, I can't make up mind. I was more inclined with going with JBarone, but unsure now with the SURE Oil Rig added to the mix. Is there anyone here that can give a run down of each one and the benefits of their design? My main concerns are entry location (top or side), filter location (close to the top, middle, or bottom), type of filter, best drainage, and flow within the catch can?

As far as I know, the options are:
Matt Damond
Corksport
Jbarone
SURE Oil Rig(Soon to come out)
Mishimoto (not sure if applicable?)

It just blows my mind how most of these differ in design quite a bit, yet they all do the same thing. I like to be a little thorough, but it may come down to pick one out of a hat...

Ahh true. They've got quite a crazy design and maybe a little too expensive for me. I actually know a couple people that work at the shop.

I'm happy with Matt Damond kit.

JBR kit wasn't available when I was buying though.

I always wonder why the JBR has the check valve on the PCV side instead of manifold though...

I almost picked up the md occ kit, but I really like how you can check if the can is full with the cs and sure cans.
I ended up ordering an oilrig. I'll let you know how it is when it comes in.

Wow, didn't check the thread for all day due to work. Thanks for the responses. I think I'm gonna see how the Sure Oil Rig turns out and then make my decision. I don't see it available on their website, but I've seen a bunch of people with it already.

Its a fucking OCC. This is worse than asking which BOV is best. Any one is better than not having one at all.

Listen asshole, I wouldn't be asking if I didn't think it was absolutely necessary. No need to fucking bring hate in here. The fact is that everyone just assumes this shit just filters through and "oh wow" I magically have oil in my catch can. All these are fabricated in different ways for a reason, yet you're telling me there is no performance differences between all of them?

I bet if I bought all of these and did a review about their performance, you would have not posted what you just posted. Obviously, I don't have that kind of money, so I'm asking the public at large.

And you're statement is stupid. You could say the same thing about most of the modifications that people do.

It's true there is not a lot of info on the catch cans themselves(design/function) I think this is mostly to ward off copy cats. There is actually more to a good occ than most think. All the ones listed are pretty damn good though. I made my own- it cost more than buying one but I like it, and it's mine.

Well no one elses fault but your own that you are a fuck tard. Maybe you don't understand the concept behind a OCC. Ill let you in on a little secret, it keeps from shit getting recirculated back into the intact tract. Oil gets caught in can = happy car. How about you use the SEARCH button instead of posting useless threads. Some days I really hate owning a 2nd gen... Unfortunately the few educated people get grouped with shit heads like yourself. Ill let you get back you reviewing the performance of OCCs. Carry on

PS

I do, here's a pic of the new OCC:

I've also spent a lot of time the past few days working on reducing my shipping costs, while still using 2-3day shipping. This means I'll have a little bit lower prices in about a week.

How about a trade-in program for those of us that already bought your occ :3

I haven't experienced winter in oregon with your occ yet so I'm still paranoid of freeinzg, i bet this would help

I'm glad I'm making sense to someone, but I can see why the information isn't out there. That's really cool that you made one. Makes me wonder if some of these new designs (SURE) are a lot of fluff and not enough functionality.

LOLOLOL I can't believe you have the nerve to call me uneducated. I know exactly what a oil catch can does, but you are not getting the point of this whole exercise. You are literally inhibiting people from finding out real information. This forum is fueled by people finding out the small meaningless stuff to find the best available option...

I'm done speaking to children.

Great to know, this makes the decision tougher. I like the way your design works. SURE's oil rig top feed design kinda scares me cause it doesn't seem to be forced all the way through the filter. Since the filter is so close, I feel like blowby gases can just go in and then right out without dropping that much oil.

Nice... I ended up going with the JBarone OCC cause I liked the amount of filters it had. The Sure oil rig was really enticing though.

I think the SSP vented Catch can is great for anyone that has a BT or is running a steady 19+ lbs of boost.

SSP Vented Oil Catch Can Installed (With Pics)

For those ont the stock turbo, the other catch cans on the market should suffice. I think the most important feature is ease of access for draining.

They look like cheap garden hoses. Definitely not what you want for an OCC.

I can change the hoses, I was wondering if the OCC itself from Greddy was decent. Design wise? Those marine hoses sound like a great idea though

I came across this little guy while trying to find an inexpensive vented can. Hopefully soon enough our vendors will come out with kits - not that there is much to it. But still.

I do wish it was larger though.
