Spark Plug Swap - observations and oddities 3 Attachment(s) currently running COBB SF/TIH, CS Racepipe to stock catback, Autotech internals, OTS Stage2 91 map. i always run a 91/93 gas mix, or just 93, to be on the safe side. my last logs showed a little knock, and i have a Cobb DP (thanks lieast) awaiting install, so i picked up some ITV22s and installed them first to make sure im running smooth before DP install and start tuning. R&R of spark plugs was without incident. i checked the gap of the ITv22s with a feeler gauge, they were pretty much dead on at .028, only one needed minor tweak. used appropriate anti-seize and dielectric grease, torqued to 'just right.' car fired right up, idled super smooth. took the car for a quick ride w/o logging, felt awesome. will provide logs soon. stock plugs look good to me, but you be the judge. checked the gap on the stockers, and they're all either a tight .026 or .025. i thought that was extremely odd. car ran fine, 31xxx miles on 'em, i just thought stock gap would be larger. thoughts? |
those stockers look good. Now I know what to expect when I swap mine out in a week or two. Thanks for posting! |
91/93 mix? Why? |
back from the dead. 91/93 was mostly an economic move. ive since added a cobb DP and changed to a stage 2 93 map, so its 93 all the time now. itv22s continue to be smooth. and after more research, that gap on the stockers is within spec. |
I was also surprised to see such a small gap with the stockers. Changed mine out around 20k to the itv22's although have not noticed much difference. Car ran great on the stockers, more of a safety net against kr I suppose. |
