(Thread Starter) | ![]() ![]() ![]() I had the RPM Ventpod laying around from when I had the genone and since I have ripped out the vent for the pu at least half a dozen times I figured it was time to see if this would work. So obviously you will need one of these.... VentPod Single Gauge Pod for Mazda 3 / Mazdaspeed 3 #EHP-MZ3-VP - Revolution Performance Motorsports! ![]() pull your vent out from the dash and this is where the work begins. I used a 3" clamp but whatever you will use it will have to apply even pressure to all the little tabs that keep the two pieces together. A flathead isn't going to work as you need all the tabs pressed in otherwise it will more than likely break it. Tabs ![]() After it's apart ![]() Now you will have to trim some of the ventpod from the RPM store. With the ridges, it will not fit in the outer ring from your vent without a little modification. I used a dremel and the drum sander attachment. I removed two of the ridges leaving four, sanded the lip so it was pretty much flush with the rest of the pod. I also added another cut so it would be more pliable. Hack job and after sanding ![]() Once that is complete it should just slide right into the outer ring like so... ![]() Everything put back together ![]() I think I am going to paint the pod a flat black to match the stock vent cover as it might be too much aluminum but otherwise it gives it a nice clean look. As I said, there are other options for a ventpod but this was successful so I thought I would share. EDIT: So gave it a touch a paint and looks way better. Both gauges in place too! ![]()

| ![]() ![]() ![]() I am about 70% done my pod. Can't wait to show my own pictures. I have to get a better sander or sand paper and sand the top part so its flush. What did you use to sand it down what grip. I only had 100 laying around and I said fuck it cause it wasnt good enough. Pictures and write up and perfect. This is an easy how to. @JTMS3;
