Default Thinking about going to 19'', need advice....

I'm thinking about going to 19''.
Just wondering if anyone is running 19'' here? What's the proper coilover kits and tires? What's the best number for offset, camber? Any recommandation?

Thanks for the help!

I'm on 19" rims and I think it looks great, the 19s I have are even slightly lighter than stock rims. these are 19 x 8.5 +45 with a 235 x 35 tire. Cheers.

Thanks man! So you're running on stock coilover? Will there be any rubbing issues for this kind of setup? Thanks again for your advice!

Why not! 19's on a Gen 2 looks great and you dont lose any of the performance if you are prepared to get decent wheels that are light weight. On a Gen 1 I wouldnt go 19's but on a Gen 2 it fills the wheel arch perfectly. So I say why not have the look and the performance. Cheers.

19s work just fine on the PU it seems. I haven't had any issues. I wish I would have run a bigger tire though.

I'm really not sure how a bigger 19" rim helps in performance in any way but I must crazy...no track cars worldwide run bigger than an 18 it's too much weight and height to run a properly set up track car. 18s are fine on a Gen 2 if it's lowered even 17" if you really want to make it as light and nimble as possible

As for 19" Advans...send ur paycheck my way you rich bastard lol.

They don't help performance. It's an appearance mod.
Even if two wheels weigh the same, the smaller diameter wheel will perform better. The weight is closer to the center and requires less energy to change speed.

My motto is: If you want the mod, go for it. Don't worry about the very minor performance difference unless you're extremely competitive in your racing series.

JNT, how low is that kit? Is the body of the car lower to the ground? I love the look of your car with those rims, but I don't want to be worried about speedbumps and steep parking garages.

Oh, and would the car look dumb if you hadn't used that lowering kit?

Thanks, its only a moderate drop, from memory I think about a inch or so all round, there are a few threads in the "Suspension & brakes section that mentions the drop you are likely to get with the Eibach springs, with the slightly bigger rims it may give the illusion that the car is lower than it actually is.

With my build I got the springs before I got the wheels so I honestly could not answer your last question.

All the best with what ever you decide to do. Cheers from down under!

JNT did you roll your fenders and can you have passengers without rear fenders rubbing? Cheers.

Hi, I didn't roll the fenders, and there is no rubbing with passengers, that's with the 19" and Yokohama S Drive 235 x 35 x19 tyres. When I went with this setup I was told to be mindful that some tyres run wider than others even if they are all 235s

All the best. Cheers.

Excellent, thank you, any camber issues and do you think a 240 40 19 would fit or 235-40-19? Reason being the wider (240) better for grip-hp and the 40 for meet to protext the wheel. Sorry for the so many questions but i have not much 19" info here even under the Gen 1 section. thanks again, cheers.

I am also running 19" ADVANS w/ +45 and the Eibach pro kit. I can confirm that it rides well and doesn't rub the fenders

I tried my old track rims from my Gen1 MZ3 on my Gen2 Speed...and what a difference.

I was saving about 8 lbs a wheel and I could definitely feel it.

Track rims are 17*7.5 Konig Feathers with 225/45/17 Hankook EVO's

Sorry for the so many questions but i have not much 19" info here even under the Gen 1 section. thanks again, cheers.
No such thing as a 240-40 but there is a 245. I would go 235 to be on the safe side. Also a wider tire will not give you more horsepower just a bigger contact patch and from only going from 235 to a 245 wont make much difference anyway.

It was a question that was never answered idiot. I don't care how long ago it was posted and never looked at the date. This is a car forum where people can ask questions and get answers not stupid remarks like you give. You wouldn't answe his question but you quote me to make a stupid remark? Wow what a waste of a forum member.

No seriously bro I was in the market for some new tires and wanted to go with 250/40/18 but since the extra width doesn't matter I will just go with the 240/40/18's!!!
It's called busting your balls! If you can't take it then this forum obviously isn't for you. Yeah it's a performance oriented forum but a good portion of it is bullshitting amongst common people. I wasnt even mean to you it was just a sarcastic remark. you obviously need to read a little more and know what you are getting into around here before your feelings get hurt.
The guy didn't know that tires only came in 10mm increments ending in 5. If you buy a mazdaspeed and don't know that he has bigger things to worry about other than tires.

I have been on car forums for over 10 years and I know how they work. I also know that there would be a lot less stupid post if someone was to simply answer the question instead of making dumb remarks. Like why would you even post something if it wasn't of any help? That's the point there is a lot more clutter on these forums because of kids like yourself. No beef just saying, have fun posting useless post to get that post count up.

Not this one.

Like why would you even post something if it wasn't of any help?
Because its funny or contains pics of tits.

That's the point there is a lot more clutter on these forums because of kids like yourself.
Clutter=character. Any thread of great importance is usually very on topic. The reason we bullshit is because most of us like to jab at each other like that. It's also just how we operate as a forum in general (especially towards brownies).

No beef just saying, have fun posting useless post to get that post count up.

This isn't some dumbass car forum that you have been on in the past 10 years. This is a family. It isn't all business. It's a lot of bullshitting with a plethora of knowledge and info thrown in. I'm not your kid and last but not least you obviously have not taken the time to research how THIS forum works. I think it would be best if you took your uptight ass to mazdas247 where all of your "knowledge" is better "appreciated". Bottom line is you bumped an old thread to make a comment about tires that is common fucking knowledge. I hope you sleep better at night knowing you saved MSF! Fucking tool.
