Default 2010+ Heated Mirrors?

I remember back in the day, that if you bought the first gen mirrors from Canada (with defrost/heated mirrors), they were automatically wired when you pressed Rear Defrost on a US MS3.

Are the 2nd Gen 2010+ MS3's the same way? Where Canada gets heated mirrors and US cars are wired, but not equipped?

For the 2010 model everything is located where it needs to be so if you purchased the heated mirrors from a vendor, they would be a simple plug and play solution. They would just come on with the defroster.

Now I can't say with certainty that it's the same with the 2011, but I don't see why it would have changed since then. If you can find the part # for the Canadian 2011 heated mirrors, they should work in yours without issue.

Do I need the entire mirror assembly? Or just the mirror glass themselves?

What's so special about the glass then if canadian glass defrosts but the us glass doesn't? Sounds like if it's just the glass, then there is wiring involved..

Yes there is wiring... Did you look at the How-to thread linked? It is the same for genpu.
You don't necessarily need canadian glass, just one that has heaters on it like the 3 GT has.

Here is a link to another write-up that does it a little easier way...
