Default Clutch pedal clicking noise

Long story short I brought my car to a local stealership to look around. The guy wanted to test drive the MS3 so I let him. IDK what he did but now when I push my clutch pedal down I get this "click" noise.... it's bugging the hell out of me. Anybody have any advice to what it might be?

I'll post a video asap.

Mine started clicking with 2000 miles on the odo. My wife's MZ3 also clicks. Is it possible you didnt notice it before the tech drove it?

this!

you'll notice all kinds of random noises and will want to blame them on the immediately preceding event.

it's usually not the culprit. unless you are wrenching. then it almost always is.

there. glad i cleared that up.

Good timing.

I had the same ongoing issue with my Genpu. Took it to the dealership 2 weeks ago and they asked no question and ordered the part.

Dropped it Yesterday and picked it up at the end of the day. And they replace the clutch pedal I believe. they also renew the brake fluid since clutch and brake use the same line on this car.

My suspicion is that there may be an ongoing defect with the clutch pedal causing that notice.

You may want to bring the car to the dealership and see what they say. Just my 2 cents...

bertrand_CX_7

Was it similar to this sound?

Voice 001.3ga download - 2shared

I went 3 times at the dealership here in Fredericton and they can't figure out the noise... they are ordering/changing my transmission mount under warranty, but I'm not sure it will solve anything.

Yeah, it was the king of similar noise. Mine had more high tones in it.

normally it's a pretty straight forward diagnostic. With the engine off, if you year the noise when engaging the clutch, then it's definitely either the clutch pedal or something is going on with the clutch.

vallord Are you feeling any abnormal behavior when driving your car?

bertrand_CX_7 Nop, everything seems find except for that annoying noise. The other thing is, it doesn't make any sound when the engine is not running, or when in neutral if the engine is running...

^^^^ this is the answer right there man.

Something may be fucked up with the clutch. Because if the engine is off, you should hear the same noise if it was the clutch pedal.

Yeah, I guess replacing the clutch may be some good place to start.

GL man with the new clutch and keep us posted.

Last time I went to the dealer, they took the car for a TD without even telling me. They are not even sure where the sound is actually coming from. They were suppose to order a transmission mount (what they think it is) and the driver seat warmer/cover. That was the 11 Oct and I'm still waiting to hear from them... I hate Fredericton dealer!

Now I'm going on a month exercise and on vacation after that. I guess I'll go were I bough the car in Mascouche.

Mine just started clicking today after 1k miles. Definitely think it's the pedal and not the clutch itself. Might take a closer look this weekend.

EDIT: Did some research and found that it could be a switch that is activated by the clutch. To test, drive at hwy speed and engage cruise control. Depress the clutch and if the cruise is reset as you hear the click, then that's it! This is gonna get annoying

Just tested on my way to work - seems to be it. Happens with the engine off as well. I have read that some people put the non-scratchy part of velcro (the loop part) onto the spot where the pedal hits the switch in order to minimize the click. I have not verified that this is a proper solution.

holy crap ... I thought I was the only one. Took it to the stealership yesterday morning and they claimed they greased some parts on/above the pedal as well as "adjusted the spring".....but it still clicks. I told them this (while still at the lot) and they claimed it was "normal". The tech also went on to claim that it had to do w/ the "switches" because I have the tech-package and something else to do w/ cruise control. My buddy also has a 2012 MS3, but he does not have tech and his pedal does NOT make this clicking/popping sound.

Very strange..... This is kind of weird behavior for a clutch pedal if you ask me....

Here is the video I took yesterday....

I've had this same sound for a few months and finally had the dealership here replace the clutch master cylinder. Problem fixed.

^+1. Mazda actually replaced my master cylinder+clutch pedal assembly. No more clicking sounds. Covered under warranty. Am a happy camper now. Apart from a rattle I've been hearing from the rear of my car. Sighs oh well haha maybe it'll get better when it gets warmer.

Haha ok fair enough. I was tired and grumpy last night lol.

I too have a clicking pedal in my genwon. I found it to be the switch (I'm assuming the switch to tell if the clutch pedal is pressed). It comes and goes, but it definitely gets annoying after a while.
