Smile First post. THROTTLE ISSUES

Hey guys. Looking for your help and knowledge. I jut bought my second ms3 and I've run into a dilema. IN NEUTRAL I can't get the rpm higher than 4K. In all the other gears I cannot give it 100 percent throttle without the turbo spiking if that makes sense. The guy who owned it before me put various mods on it and I will list them to the extent of my knowledge. Ultimate Catback exhaust. Downpipe but info unknown. Cobb intake. Cobb bov. I'm unaware if he did hpfphf internals. I apologize for this ignorant post but I'm not sure how to approach this. I'm buying a v2 this Friday to possibly solve this problem. Thanks boyos.

You think I should just flash it and start from scratch?
Thanks.

Without knowing what tune is on there, start from scratch.
Load a crappy OTS map that best fits your build and go from there or load what's called a base map and REALLY start from scratch.

Yea, you really need to get a good inventory of mods. Check your plugs are at .026, do you have a TIP installed? Not sure if cobb intake comes with that part or not.

https://www.cobbtuning.com/maps/

You should be able to handle the stage 2 map if you have fuel internals, you will be able to tell from a log; just dont go to redline. So flash the map, then do a very short WOT log in 4th gear and then check your HPFP actual and make sure it maintains above 1600.

You don't need to gap as low as 0.026. With your mods 0.028 is fine.

Hey guys. Connected the AP. It had a previous tune. Which was trash obviously. Is it safe to bring back to stock with the mods I mentioned?

If you do your MAF cal might be off. I don't know how much bigger than stock the Cobb intake is. Try it though. Wont hurt anything.

I would take off the fuel pump and find out if it has internals. I would certainly hope so as you said you have an aftermarket downpipe.

Search right here on this forum for procedure. There are pictures in here in various posts of what stock and aftermarket look like so you will know for sure.

Once you get all that done, and if you have internals, load the map that is the closest match for the mods you have that came on the AP. Then go take a data log. Again, search on here on how to properly take a data log.

Thanks! Good advice. Running a stage 2 91 octane with sf. It's idling at a little under 1k. I actually have a full intake so I'll switch it up. Thanks guys. Super appreciate all the info.

So guys. This morning I decided to load the stage 3 93 octane map with sf and Cobb tih with upgraded cdfp and upgraded intercooler. Which I forgot to mention I have. In going to do a data log and post my findings. It's currently idling at a hair under 1k. Thanks in advance for your input.

Don't load the stock tune.

The log looks good. No KR (knock retard) showing at 19 psi. AFR and HPFP Actual look good. However, as has been discussed so many many times; just because your fuel pressure is maintaining above 1600 psi at WOT doesn't guarantee you have upgraded internals.

Is this not launch control? Does it do this if you have it in 1st gear clutch disengaged like you’re about to launch? Mine won’t go past 3500 rpm, but that’s what I have my LC set at.

Perhaps. But it also had issues in all other gears. It still has slight turbo spike at 100% throttle but significantly less

Gotcha. I'll double check to make sure but to my knowledge they are upgraded. Thanks
