Default Vibration under > 10 psi boost

Raider / MOD? could you change thread title to vibration > 10 psi boost?

Msf peeps,

Drove through some very heavy rain last night and now have a heavy vibration / studder @ > 10 psi.

Car drives fine under vacuum and up to when bcs starts to activate.

All searching leads me to believe it is a bad coil pack, but could use opinions.

-Pulled plugs,
-no condensation / water,
-blew out maf and ecu connections with no luck.
-cleaned maf sensor
-replaced air filter (in case one was wet / moist)
-started crying a little


Could use a hand diagnosing.

Also, did not attempt much boosting, but boost seems limited somehow...i.e. boost seems low.

Still wondering wtf is going on tbh. LOL.

The rain is suspect #1, although my logs are lean and the wgdc that is in the log usually produces much higher boost levels.

I'm gonna saaaaay you sucked up some water, it went all the way thru to your throttle plate, collected like in the Abyss and the back-pressure blew a line off that involves boost somewhere.

Could be Mizzle. @ this point, I have, p0300, low boost, an erratic afr..

and the fact that I drove through heavy rain last night...

The car was fine last night, sat overnight and went to get gas today, on the way to get gas, this pleasant surprise brightened my day!

WD40 to displace it (loosen it's grip from the metal,) and then canned air, dry-fire paintball gun, compressor blast, shop-vac as a blower, twist paper towels up into cones and stuff them in there, heat-gun to evaporate, halogen lights just making everything hot under the hood, aquarium air-line used as a siphon...

Typically with an ignition misfire, the afr goes rich. The car can't build boost, because not enough exhaust flow to spool it up due to the misfire. I think the maf may be the culprit. Can you unplug it and see if the car will drive. Some cars hate this, but others seem to drive ok with it unplugged.

I'm pretty sure it will drive that way, but do you want me to boost / try to recreate the issue?

I looked @ the outside of the rubber coil surrounds (not wet / oxidised), but it looks as if it is time to look deeper down.

The car ran without the maf sensor plugged in, but must have some sort of failsafe, as it turned off the bcs and every light in my car was on. LOL.

Got it sorted. There was water in the plug wells of the inner two cylinders. Hit it with the shopvac (thanks Mizzle) , pulled the plugs, sprayed with maf cleaner, wiped threads and reinstalled.

Everything is fine now. Thanks Mizzle (as usual) and atvfreek for all of the help (as usual) and to manilams12 for the well wishes.

I have to figure out some way to seal the coil pack to the valve cover a bit better.

MAF seems to read correctly. If suspecting coil packs, swap them from cylinder to cylinder or unplug them 1 by 1.

I was hoping this was the turning point in you actually installing that 2867...I'm still wanting to see what it can do (as it's looking like my turbo of choice). But I'm glad you got it figured out. I know this test wouldn't have worked on my car because with the maf unplugged the car will barely start...

I'm getting close. I have the parts and NJspeed3's experience (he has been poking me to get started, and is always down to help me wrench), so it won't be too long now.

I've been sketchy on the oil and water hoses and fittings, but have to man up @ some point and just get into it.

Honestly, WD40 does a pretty good job of sealing things, but you have to re-treat from time to time. Fun fact: WD means Water Displacement.

Another is white lithium grease spray. Beyond that, I can't think of many other ways.

Off-topic: The American woman who won skeet shooting (giggity,) also has a Shelby Cobra kit car that she built herself.

Glad you got this sorted out. I was starting to lean toward bad gasoline. Funny thing is when I had bad gas in the car a few weeks ago I never even got a cel.

I hear you on that. The strange thing is the car ran normally @ anything less than 12-15 psi. It took 7-10 instances of the misfire to cause the cel to light.
