johnnyspeed6 05-17-2009 05:13 PM

im usually ok with any time .. nothing particular to me ... im always down for a good 2 hour cruise in the speed to austin .. there is a BBQ place about 20 mins from austin called The salt lick .. its in driftwood tx .. great food .. live music and u can bring your own beer and hang out .... big parlking lot ... would be perfect place to start the meet ... to get to the place you have to get off I-10 and leading to it is about 10 miles of windy twisting roads with tons of curves and dips ... can you imagine 50 speed 3 and 6's going down that road for 10 miles just cruising and hitting the corners .. you could hear BOV's for miles ...

aaronc7 05-17-2009 05:20 PM

you should have stopped by!!

hey i dont know if you know but every month san antonio raceway has a thing called midnight madness where you pay like 10 dollars and you can race all you want all night.Me and some friends try to go,we might go sometime in the summer. You better be there!

rebelgirl289 05-17-2009 06:35 PM

I went on a night before that Midnight Madness, and nobody was there, so I ended up getting like 7 runs in. My friend went the next night on MM, and said he only got like 1 or 2 runs in but said there were some really nice cars.

Grim 05-17-2009 06:47 PM

yea if you stay for the whole thing the line dies down.but there is a lot of nice cars there.

SLS MS3 05-17-2009 07:24 PM

Hate to sound like a typical north texas guy (ok, I don't really hate it), but Austin doesn't seem like central texas from way up here.

aaronc7 05-17-2009 07:38 PM

and Dallas is "central"?? lol

No not at all, Dallas is North Texas. The same way you guys in the "south" would feel about driving up to Dallas for a state meet is the same when the roles are reversed. I make the drive fairly often and would probably go no matter where it's at, but I can still complain about it. Speaking of which, I'll actually be down there next weekend it looks like if you want to meet up.

And since it got brought up, a meet in Dallas isn't that bad of an idea. We could all stop by Cobb, and there are multiple local tracks we could hit up. Ideally maybe there should be 3 meets a year rotating between Austin, Houston, and Dallas. *shrug* But I'll leave that stuff to the meet planners, I gave up that job a long time ago.

If in SA go and stay at the Menger Hotel across the street from the Alamo. They say it is haunted.

rebelgirl289 05-18-2009 04:16 PM

rebelgirl289 05-21-2009 05:21 PM

Our game is fine in Dallas. Monday we have the largest weekly car meet in the state, Wednesday is the weekly Miata meet with 20ish regulars, Thursday is the local Mazda meet with 20ish regulars, and Saturday or Sunday is the weekly cruise day. Not to mention the first saturday of every month is the Rotary meet.

Statewide meets suck for organization tho, Texas is too big for that shit.

i hear ya. when i moved out to cali. it took 12 hours to get out of texas and 12 hours to get to cali! a statewide meet in texas would be bad ass if yall could pull it off. i would drive from oakland to make it. texas is by far the best state in the country. im thinkin about movin back that way. too many whining and bitching in cali. these people bitch about EVERYTHING.

aaronc7 05-23-2009 08:54 PM

so who's actually going to this? or is it going to be epic fail?

SLS MS3 05-23-2009 11:05 PM

aaronc7 05-25-2009 09:35 AM

well rebel is working on planning out a big state wide...(or something like that) meet that will be plenty in advance, like august or something. So then you guys wont have an excuse that you can't make it

SLS MS3 05-25-2009 07:04 PM

With so much advanced notice, the excuses better not be lame.
