The price I knew. Still working on this.

We've found a better way. Even when we used the shroud you made, my numbers tanked after every pull. Granted, it was probably much better than it would have been with nothing...

Last time I put my car on the dyno, I let them put 1 fan directly on my TMIC on the hot side; 2 pulls were identical, and the other was a few tenths of a HP less.

^^^ shit worked like a champ on the TMIC cars.

The AutoTrain might be the single greatest travel option in this country. I took it to/from Florida last year when I had to relocate to Miami for work. Spend the money for a private sleeper, you'll get free dinner and breakfast, your own roomette, a wake-up call, etc. The cars are very well taken-care of (mirrors protected, interior protected with liners, etc) and if the train isn't full you can be on your way 15-20 minutes after arrival.

I had a boss write, "Approved As Noted" on a vacation request last year, with the words, "OMG, take me with you, I need a break from this shit-hole!" when I wanted to go to Switzerland.

I'm in for Epic NATOR-ness. I won't need a hotel room, I've got a buddy nearby and will use this as an excuse to visit him for the first time in years.

Today's Hotel Update:

Lower sales guy from Marriott calls back to go over details with me - still no quote but he will try to get close to where we had it last year. Now, I also had asked about having the parking area we used last year reserved for us on prior calls, ya know, if they could. So he tells me the city is moving Rockville Pike in on their parking area and they are planning to start building a parking garage this year. He was going to look in on the start date but I know with construction comes lots of dust so ... something to think about.

Now, Hilton down the street gave me a quote right up front. They will block 25 rooms off up front and will add more if and when those fill up. She wants $95 per night and nce if you need a rollaway bed for your room. She would not waive the parking fee but did reduce it to $8 from $15. Was parking free at Marriott last year? I don't remember.
She also recommended the Matchbox restaurant across the street or Hooters. Matchbox she says has good food and great bartenders. Hotel bar closes at 11PM and we would have to keep the noise down in the Atrium as some of the rooms face in (this mean you @Rokusek;) As for chilling in the parking garage, don't go crazy, keep it tidy and it should be fine. Once I get the quote and construction info on Marriott, I will post up the thread and ask people to vote on which hotel they would prefer before pulling the trigger.

WTF? You all payed for parking last year? I don't remember that at all.

Ryguy 01-14-2014 07:59 PM

Yea I don't think we payed either.

Tommy 01-14-2014 08:01 PM

I remember needing the card key to get out but unless they added. It to the bill, I don't remember paying either.

Tommy 01-14-2014 08:06 PM

I checked their website and it does say its $15 a day but that doesn't mean we got charged that.

daafisch 01-14-2014 08:20 PM

I believe they added it to the bill and we needed our room key to get through the gate.

doubleflusher 01-14-2014 08:25 PM

I just looked at my invoice from last year and I was not charged for parking.

I was, however, charged for parking in 2012.

atvfreek 01-14-2014 08:38 PM

kritz 01-14-2014 08:51 PM

Just checked from the first year too, no pay fer parking.

kidlifecrisis 01-14-2014 11:19 PM

Marriott says $94 but no mention of the parking fee. I called and left a message.
Now, is there any particular reason we anted to stay in North Bethesda? Someone did mention to me that none of these hotels are all that great and I have to agree. I travel for work and stay in 2-5 hotels per month so I'd say I have experience here. The problem I have here is that the closer you get to DC, the smaller the parking options become. With as many cars as we have, this is a big concern. The further away we go from DC, the less these hotels have to offer. I stayed at the DC Renaissance in October and it was decent but it was $300 /night and they have valet parking only. So, let me know what you guys really want, what you want to pay and I will nail something down.

Also, I've been a bit slow on all this but its due to illness so I hope you all understand.

Scare Dem 01-15-2014 10:24 AM

I prefer not to have my car valet and would like to stay away from that if possible.

Realgib3 01-15-2014 11:04 AM

I like the hilton personally. For 95+ parking, having a parking garge, seems to be in close relation to restaurants and such. That's just my vote though, wherever the masses decide, I'll go.

Dream20b 01-15-2014 01:42 PM

As stated before, I will not be going crazy this year... as my VW would probly have a mental breakdown of the carnage to follow and I cant have that.

But the Miata might be driven as well... idk... Still thinking.

With more people than ever talking about traveling we absolutely need the best price possible with the most parking in a decent hotel.

I personally dont care about location either, and I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switing to VW.

So, I got 3 hotels on the hook right now. Marriott, Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn. @CWP_MS3; and I were talking and since he is working on the dinner for Saturday night, we agreed it would be best for him to nail down a spot and then I'll take the hotel closest. I'm still pushing for free or discounted parking. I've also been asking for a place for us to hang out after dinner and that's still in the works with Marriott and Garden Inn but Hilton is good with us staying in the garage. The best news is, I am 14 days smoke free, I'm 99% well again after the flu and my negotiating juices are flowing. The price point may not move much but what I want to push for is more for the buck. So, tell me what else you would like that they did not give/offer last year.

Just for shits and giggles there will be awards handed out for track day : Best ET, 60ft, and Trap Speed. There will be 2 cats BT and Ko4... and yes BNR guys u fall into BT...

I didn't make a dyno award just because I hate dyno queens.

@The Panda; Any places local do drag radial rentals? Not looking to haul extra wheels 12+ hours both ways.

right? That way the lower powered stock turbo cars and shoot for something.

Dream20b 01-22-2014 11:30 AM

absolutely, should have an FWD category in the 60' comp and everyone else category too, since FWD's harder to launch properly.

We could debate categories all day, idk if seperating awd and fwd would be as effective. There is def alot more fwd than awd. I would think a better way to break it up would be to seperate street tires and slicks. That's just my 0.02 cents

There are guys that know how to launch a FWD too. Once their suspension is set up proper, watch out.

As in full stiff in the rear and full soft up front to help with weight transfer?
