Just assume it will get stuck up top sometime around Halloween. 2016. (sarcasm). |
Only thing I need to do to the car for prep is front struts. Pretty sure I'll be going with Koni yellows. Going to wait until the spring to swap out the rears due to budget issues. The front passenger side is blown and the car pushes that way in hard left corners. Quote:

If I was in your position I would have given up a long time ago. Thanks for not doing that. We've made camp this long without being on the front page. We will survive! |

Thanks @Raider; we love you!! Quote:
Aren't they different between the Juan and Pu? I thought about going this route and the price is definitely right. I'll wait until the end of this month to make a call. I could even do two new OEM struts for the price of one Koni yellow. The car is lowered on H&R springs though, so something designed for that application is probably a better bet. As long as I can afford them, I'll be going Koni's. |
Just know the only reason I am still on MSF is not for him, but for everyone else on here. The more friends that leaves here draws me back some, but hoping somehow to get em back on here for some reason. |

Already did it, Scotty. |
So I'm chilling at this Dragon camp since spring was so hetic lol. Bringing my kayak and doing a little fishing maybe. |

I googled and it looks like some of the standard tent sites are actually on wooden decks. That might be good for avoiding getting as wet and muddy as other sites. I don't know what the RV sites are like - although access to power is appealing. Not too familiar with the campground as I've only been there once. Anyone have any input? Quote:

did anybody truly "camp" at MDC last year, IIRC we were all confined to the cabins, then there was the whole snow situation. |
|
^ First we've heard about it as we were discussing making some. Thanks for being excited though! More the merry. P.s..with frat shirts....I expect you all to arrive in a 4 runner.. wearing short shorts...pink shirts....with a keg in the back ready to do keg stands. Also camel back full of vodka on deck. |
If I can get the wife on board we'll be there. Sounds like a good time! |
THREE WEEKS AWAY BITCHES! TIME TO START UP THE HYPE TRAIN! |
Can't wait. Should be a great time. Still need to do more prep on the camping front. Also get my damn cracked DP replaced. Should be good and tuned up and much faster than April this time around. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk |
Already ready! Just need a new sleeping bag. Hosting a prep day in Knoxville and Louisville to get tn/ky ready. I'll be there Wed night. See you guys there! |
I've held 2 meets this month and hope to hold 2 more before Dragon Camp so I'm all about that prep. And I'm not even positive I'll be able to come lol. Freaking slippery clutch.... |
Quote:
Nothing too serious, but it all needs to be done. I don't have any damn time!! Quote:
I'll be heading your way Wednesday morning so we can cruise up from Knoxville together. |

Well now that you're offering.................LOL. I dont think I have enough muscle for that many handies. But it hasn't slipped since, not that I have noticed at least. And only slipped at peak tq (380awtq) in 4th gear. Since 2nd & 3rd gear are lower in power I'm hoping I wont hit it hard enough to make it slip. Probably being optimistic and by the time i leave the dragon I'll be power shifting. But as long as my clutch doesn't show increased signs of slippping, and my mommas health maintains, I'mma be all up in yalls shit. I hope to have the funds together soon for parts but dont think I cant put the install together fast enough to get it in. I dont have the skills to perform the swap by myself and would need to rely on my local NATOR homies and when some of them can help. I've read the walk-throughs and such and feel pretty decent about it but not confident enough to do it alone. Quote:

A little over three weeks out!! When does everyone plan on arriving? Staying at campground? |
Campground! I got the Taj Mahal 20x10 3 room tent. Sent from my big ass Note 4 using shitty Tapatalk. |
I'm on the fence about this trip. Not sure my Jeep is up to the trip, let alone the dragon  |

Just put on centric blanks and yellowstuff for this trip. |
Need tires bad. Killed my rs3s at the last auto x style event we did. Been on the fence with rs3s again or re71rs. think I'm going to pull the trigger tomorrow on some old trusty rs3s. |
I got some fresh RS3s, and a whole lot of new goodies since this spring. It's gonna be a blast, excited to hang out with everyone again! |
I've been busy working much so I can haz pocket full of jingle to spend at Camp. Lets get this party started. |

I hate to say it but I'm officially backing out of this trip. I'll see you guys next go round |
It will probably be cold at night, bring warm cloths and heavy sleeping bags. I have a electric blanket, small room heater and a quality sleeping bag I'm bringing. I might even bring a coffee maker. |
Quote:
I like the coffee maker idea. Didnt you rent the cabin? Sent from my big ass Note 4 using shitty Tapatalk. |
its the same weekend as my college homecoming, I've already got parties booked for that weekend so im out :-\ |

What's all this we stuff @ItsNox;? I was nice and toasty during ENM, mummy bag. haha Though I did enjoy hearing y'all freeze over there. Kidding aside, bring warm stuff guys, seriously, you can always remove layers and gear, but if you come under prepared you're SOL. I am actually shopping for a new tent now, but I wanted to ask if anyone wanted to go in with me on an RV site. Any takers? |
Quote:
If I come I will have to drive from Illinois to Virginia then to the dragon. Probably wouldn't make it until Friday. If you have room for a one man tent on an RV site and I make it I'll throw in some cash, but I'm still iffy. Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk |
I'll be there for sure, without boost. Likely not camping I can commute on a daily. Do I need to reserve a spot to camp if I do?? Anyone having a prep meet up for the nc/sc side? |

I put in my vacation time today! I am debating what to do with my tent situation, I need a new one, I don't want a huge one to camp in for just myself, wifey wants a bigger one for the family, so i'm thinking of buying a little cheap one for when I'm by myself and spend the money on a bigger one for the fam. Anyone here have or used the Coleman Sundome? Amazon has them for 44 bucks and the reviews seem pretty good for a cheapo 3 season. |
I am lightly considering making the trip up to do this. I haven't camped in forever, but I think I still have some of my old stuff. Man, 4 tanks of fuel in a weekend is a lot. |
You know you wanna do it! I had a blast at Spring Dragon camp with the Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama, Illinois and Michigan crews. There were many drinks and fires. |
A spare set of wheels/tires and the tools to change over doesn't leave much room for camping stuff and a beverage cooler. I wish the Rx8 had a real cargo pass-through. |

I'm getting all verklempt when I read this thread. Planning to make it to at least one of them next year, but this fall just can't happen. :grumble: |
Gettin excited can wait to get my new brakes set up. |
It is getting down to crunch time, I have to get the RSB on, an oil change, and that rear right caliper sorted this weekend. Rob and I aren't done with the tune yet either, but on Rev. 7 it's honestly probably good enough if we didn't get any further. I opted for el cheapo on the tent. The Coleman Sundome 3 person is 7x7 and so it will hold a queen air mattress and the rest of my stuff, reviews were really good and they are under 50 bucks on Amazon for those of you in the market. Do not forget your radios people! Cell phones DO NOT work outside of town, so it's your only communication, granted it still doesn't get you far, it's better than nothing. |
I should get a radio. Any recommendations for a brand? Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk |
The Oklahoma guys and myself bought Baofeng, they were cheap on Ebay and programmable. For the money I'd recommend them. |
He's right about the radios. I loved having mine last time. My tent sleeps 16 and pops up in 5 minutes. You guys are welcome to crash with me. Still need to get an RV spot. Sent from my big ass Note 4 using shitty Tapatalk. |
Super Jelly. That is all. |

Great radios for the money. |

A bunch of the TN guys have these ones They are good for 3-5 miles, sometimes less depending on terrain. You get two and a charger with that pack which is nice. Definitely not as fancy as the other ones posted, but they work great for the application! |

"no" "what will we do while we wait for everyone?" |
Well work has officially scheduled me for an activity in Virginia through the whole week, so no camp for me. Big sad face. :( Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk |

When I come next year I want to see how the amateur radio repeater coverage is down the dragon. If they have good strategically placed receive sites I wouldn't be surprised to have coverage on most of it, especially if I deploy the 2m 5/8 wave antenna and use a non-handheld transceiver. |
bump! getting close. weenie roast info posted by the wife on FB. if you are not on failbook to see this and respond please let me know a head count so we can prepar. thanks guys! Hey guys and gals! I'll be there with some goodies. Facebook still sucks. |
@ItsNox; and I will try to be there. |

I packed up my gear this weekend, I'm tossing it in the car Wednesday night and heading that way after work Thursday! |
Picked up 5 gallons of VP M1 methanol and a couple cases of beer. Changed oil and lubed everything this past weekend. Some gopro accessories coming in tomorrow. My car is ready. |
Alignment being checked today, wheels are obnoxious and tires sticky, just need an oil change and I'm ready to go. I guess I should pack some clothes and get some beer |
1 Attachment(s) Car is all prepped and ready. Full detail and some paint issues fixed. Been rocking the new re71s for the past week. I'm impressed. I think they are going to blow my old rs3s out of the water. Camping gear all down from the attic. Weenie roast stuff all purchases. Just have to pack my bag and car. I'll be heading out Wed at 3pm from work. Shooting for a 430ish pm arrival :) lol Attachment 214456 |
