What thickness are they using? Looks like 1"?

jdmage_mx5 11-15-2014 04:02 PM

The holder or the spacers?

I never did measure either one but can if I need too. Basically the thickness of the MD plate plus a little more than a JBR tig thickness would have been great.

Now don't get me wrong, having theses plates available are AWESOME! If they were just a hair thicker my install would have been a little easier.

The plate. It looks like theirs is about an inch, but hard to tell from pictures.

Don't know about the MD spacer but the JMF spacer is like 0.57" thick.

So where's the stuff for the 6? All I see is 3 parts that happen to fit the 6.

cletusb 11-16-2014 01:01 PM

How thick is the egr delete plate?

on the 3" intakes - will they require the smaller battery/tray or will they work with stock?

Stock, all that's required is to remove the outer ECU cover.

The 3.5" will require a battery box or relocate the ECU to the fuse box cover.

Well looks like I'm gonna sell the HTP 3.5 intake I just bought and pick up your 3" intake.

spals 11-17-2014 03:17 PM

@jbarone; what options for intake to turbo couplers are you offering with the aluminum intakes? I know you said a 3.5" would fit with ECU relocation. Does this statement still hold if you are using a BNR S3?

We'll have every coupler size and yes it will fit with the BNR.

You'll be glad you did. I'm very, very pleased with how these intakes look, sound and more importantly, perform.

Lol why would you ever go to a smaller intake. Htp 3.5 is a great intake

Again, we aren't in your thread bashing you. You don't need to be in this one.

And HTP intakes are great for big turbo builds... as in you'll have a reason to go big turbo when they launch themselves into your stocker.

Um, did you read my post? didn't bash anyone simply stated it's dumb to sell a perfectly good intake for a smaller one

Yeah I guess. Due to the nature of your past posts in this thread I didn't take it that way. Youre right though. My bad.

From what the previous owner of my turbo said it did cause slight boost creep. Also I don't want to deal with small battery and tray.

I ran a small battery for 2 winters no issues at all with starting, and I had no creep issues. once I buy a small bat tray it will go on my 6 and I'm sure I will have no issues

Yeah I also had no issue with a 51r. Found one with 600 CCA and it turned every time.

Currently on a k04 but I just bought a gtx2867r and the htp 3.5 intake from econman. The gtx2867r has a 3" inlet so I figure a 3" intake will be a good option for it

That will be going in early Q2 next year once I finish gathering the additional items I need. I had forgotten that jbr was coming out with the new intakes. Once I get the intake he sent I'll probably sell it to get $$ towards the new jbr 3"

If you have a bigger turbo you want a 3.5 inch intake. Stick with the htp

I want to avoid boost creep that has occurred with this intake on the turbo I bought. I'll be fine and happy with the 3" from JBR.

Mike@Stratified 11-20-2014 04:47 AM

FWIW, I got the Tru-3 installed without removing the ECU cover.

Boost creep can be tackled in the tune or make sure you take a Dremel to the iwg. Going smaller for a bt is no good
