MAZDASPEED 3
JBR 3.5" WP (wide Path) Full Intake System

Link to Product Page

The JBR 3.5" Wide Path Full Intake System is the only affordable solution for those seeking unrestricted flow from filter to turbo. The one piece design eliminates the need for unnecessary couplers and the joining of multiple sections that increase turbulence, friction and loss of airflow. Increased efficiency means lower BAT’s, reduced back pressure and increased performance from your turbo. From end to end the 3.375”cross sectional inside diameter of the Wide Path Intake is capable of flowing over 300 g/s on the stock KO4 turbo consistently at WOT while maintaining stable AFR’s. 4-ply reinforced couplers, stainless steel T-bolt clamps, thick walled silicone hose and a K&N Dry-Flow air filter make for a complete stock or big turbo intake solution. AP Tuning is required to run this intake.

http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/6720/img0131mk.jpg

Includes:
Full Intake/TIP 3.370" ID MAF
Recirc or non-recirc options available
Black Silicone VC Hose
Black Silicone WG Hose
2.25" x 3.5" Reducer Coupling (Stock Turbo) or 4" x 3.5" Reducer Coupling (Big Turbo)
T-Bolt Clamps
K&N Dry Flow Filter

The filters shipping with the kits are 3.5" black washable Dry-Flow filters. Dry-flow Air Filters are specially designed for tough off-road applications. They provide outstanding levels of filtration efficiency and capacity. K&N Air Filters are oil-free and their synthetic media is incredibly easy to clean. Even more impressive, they are so durable that they maintain their shape under even the most severe abuse.

The ECU will need to be relocated. I seriously recommend using 3M 2-side outdoor foam tape and attaching it to the top of the fuse box cover. There is no wiring harness modifications needed and if the fuse box cover and back of ECU are properly cleaned it will not come off. The fuses are still accessible as well. I've been running it this way for over 5 months and it is solid and looks really good too. I see no reason to spend money on some relocate kit for such a simple solution.

http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/6731/img0129ck.jpg

Air straighteners are not included. We have experienced no tuning related, performance related or trim related issues due to the lack of an air straightener. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to properly perform a MAF cal and tune for this intake. We will not be providing maps. I have priced these to allow plenty of room for the purchase of a honeycomb or other form of air straightener should you feel you need one. Honeycomb air straighteners for these intakes can be found here.

MAZDASPEED 6 Sorry guys this does not fit without the battery being relocated

Couplers are also sold separately should you decide to upgrade the stock turbo to a bigger turbo with a 4" inlet.

radbrad 06-04-2012 02:55 PM

Ugh I wish I didn't just buy a new tip :(

EdgeAutosport.com 06-04-2012 02:56 PM

Looks good Jamie :)

Red 06-04-2012 02:58 PM

How long is pre order for?

JacksonMS30 06-04-2012 02:58 PM

Looks great!

One question:
How well does this fit with the factory battery box in place?

Black Metal 06-04-2012 02:59 PM

Put me on the preorder list recirc and K04 adapter please.

ztnedman1 06-04-2012 02:59 PM

Any idea if corksport cold air box will work with this?

Sid3wayS 06-04-2012 03:00 PM

So no recirc option for the bpv?

JBR 06-04-2012 03:07 PM

No it will not fit the CS cold air box.

The pre-order will run up until we start shipping.

They will be available with a recirc connection or with out.

Thanks,
Jamie

fooqr 06-04-2012 03:08 PM

I'm in!

snailD 06-04-2012 03:09 PM

i believe i was told that the battery box will be fine, but the ecu will have to be relocated. as far as the relocation goes, jamie said the relocation kit is 3m tape lol, but i dont doubt it will work exceptionally well. @jbarone where do you suggest relocating the ecu to?

EDIT: seriously thinking about joining this group buy. will need to make a conscious decision in a few days

anavrinIV 06-04-2012 03:14 PM

I'm keeping a watch on this and on my funds. I'll be getting one, the question is when.

Would you be able to ship with both the stock turbo and big turbo silicone adapters? I'll be buying this in preparation for a BT build but will have to use it on my stock turbo for a while

MS309 06-04-2012 03:16 PM

Will this require relocating the ECU or does this somehow squeeze in ?

SLOWHATCH 06-04-2012 04:49 PM

Very nice looking and fair price. Wish it fit with a cold air box. Even if it took some modifying.

Any chance of @jbarone making a cold air box for this intake in the future?

Dr. Speed 06-04-2012 05:00 PM

Does this intake change the stock MAF housing diameter? (will it need a tune to run right?)

dantes5823 06-04-2012 05:03 PM

damn it! just as i go BT. Maybe ill part with my setup at a later date.

No re-circ.

MSFer87 06-05-2012 07:10 AM

I was wondering when someone was going to be smart and corner the market with a 1 piece intake/TIP. You are the man. Now I have to sell my Cobb combo for this!

Our testing has not needed one. That's not to say that some won't, all these cars can be different and not one tune will work on them all.

My LTFT's @ hot idle are -0.8

Thanks,

Black Metal 06-05-2012 10:29 AM

Well I hope I'm not your test MS6 but if you haven't gotten a test fit by the time you can ship I'll still take one.

I don't see a 3.5" inlet fitting a MS6 without having to relocate or go to a thinner battery. There is just not much room there. I would love to be proved wrong though!

Speed3eak 06-05-2012 12:11 PM

God damnit jamie

Just when I'm having problems with fuel trims related to the TIP-SRI connection

I'll take one - Stock turbo (2.5" coupler) with the recirc option

I actually have two intakes AND two TIPS (corksport and CP-e) that I'll have to sell now because I've been lazy.

Actually this sounds fairly awesome. And. . . If I upgrade the turbo down the road I don't have to worry about getting a different intake.

KevMS6 06-05-2012 12:29 PM

Looks top quality as usual, great work Jamie :)

I agree completely. I've done a number of different intakes and inlet pipes over the years and they are all a very tight fit it you have a stock sized battery.

If you have a smaller battery, the tray would probably require some trimming.

This intake looks awesome though. A complete intake, one piece, no couplers except the one holding it to the turbo!? Thats all win JBR, nice work.

One-piece intake FTW! No more leaks at the couplers. Now I'll have to get an FMIC so my boost leak checker doesn't start feeling neglected.

Speaking of, when's that JBR FMIC project gonna be ready, Jamie? Looks like you've already got most of the pieces-parts, but you're just using them as background studio props in your pictures. No rush, I gotta let the bank account heal for a while. Just want to plan.

@jbarone Just curious, but is it even possible to get something like this a C.A.R.B. certification?

I know it's expensive as hell to get any aftermarket part CARB certified, but for the guys in strict smog states, it could mean the difference between not getting sent to a smog ref and being flagged and fined.

Just like Rodrigo. His once fire spitting, demon of an MS3 is now an intake only grocery getter.

dpolseno41 06-06-2012 05:46 PM

It'll be tempting to move the battery where the spare tire is. Ohhhhh the space in the engine bay then.

JBR 06-08-2012 05:38 AM

^^If your referring to the pics I posted on Facebook that's not the intake I'm talking about.

For clarification, I'm talking about actual stock replacement SRI intakes with billet MAf housings and air straighteners, custom silicone all the way to the turbo. Similar to all the other after market SRI's on the market. All JBR branding from filter to turbo!

Back on track.....I'll get some pics of the WP posted up in OP later.

Thanks,
Jamie

Put me down for 1. BT, recirc. MS6. I'm pretty sure it will fit, or I will take a hammer to something until it does...

JBR 06-16-2012 10:05 AM

OP Updated....Only 1 w/ recirc left in this batch.

More pics and a few vids. I know several of you wondered what it would sound like so here you go. Enjoy!

I don't need the stock coupler. And I'd prefer mine polished please. Thanks.

silentwolf8 06-16-2012 10:22 AM

@jbarone do we have the choose between polished and your black crinkle setup... or they all going to be one or the other? i would prefer the black one, but wanted to check since you showing both of them in the pictures.
