I couldn't find a 51R on a saturday so I said fuck it and picked up a 51. I have ZERO slack on my cables, but it fits.

I have fitted yesterday a 3" wide path to the CS Air box. It works:

Do you have a pic with the cover off and did you have to do any modifications?

Sent via blown passenger side speakers.

I will take some pictures today with cover off. I had to cut out the hole a bit where the Intake goes into the airbox. I made it much wider, so that there´s no rubbing, even when engine moves. I also removed the bottom of the airbox to increase the flow. The opening of the unmodified airbox is a joke, i doubt it would be able to flow enough air amount of the BNR + Widepath. Now it should be fine.

If anybody asks why i use the box: shitty laws in germany. No way to get a SRI street legal without airbox!
But i also hope to see cooler IAT´s. I also left the snorkel in place wich comes from the front bumber to airbox, hope it delivers some cool air.

BTW i like the clean oem-like look.

JBR 07-18-2013 07:28 AM

I Would be interested in some data that supports cooler IAT's. I'm skeptical that there will be any since I've not seen any with a typical SRI and cold air box that makes it worth the expense. Hence why we've not made one. We have however seen lower IAT's with the cold air option we have available for the 3" Wide Path Intakes

I do think it does look very nice though and you did a nice job modifying the box. I also understand the laws surrounding the need in your country.

You are telling me you couldn't find a battery that is commonly used in Honda's. Hell you could of gone to Mazda and got a battery that's is for the 2010+ miata that is a 51r and would work to.

That's what I have in mine.

That's exactly what I'm telling you lol... Canadian Tire/Walmart only had 51 series, and everything else was closed for the weekend so I took the chance.

I don't doubt a 51r would be easy to find, but the info might be useful to someone who has a battery sitting around from another car.

Damn that looks close to stock. Too bad, I already installed an HTP battery tray. :(

Too bad nothing! What's a friend for if not to help you look stock? XD

tapafuck

@jbarone; Do you no longer stock honeycomb straighteners for this intake? I'm having some cold start issue's and Think a straightener may help.

I wonder if the 3 1/2 inch will fit as well.

mrmonk7663 08-23-2013 09:24 PM

You can get a honeycomb here for cheap. I have used this guy before. Shipping was fast. Honeycomb for MAF

Wonder what a good ratio to use is? I'm guessing that has something to do with the size of each cell in the honey comb.

EmPeEs6 08-24-2013 11:10 AM

Hi all,

today I installed my JBR 3.5" wp intake.
Before the reflash the car didn't run at all - even in idle state, afterwards it ran quite impressive, smooth and stable and much more powerful than before.
For this reflash I just did a rough maf cal (multiplication facor 1.65) and everything seemed to be fine.
But when doing a few WOT runs I noticed that my maf and load values were extremely low. With a similar tune and the CorkSport SRI I reached a max maf of 330-340 g/s (at comparable temps) and a load around 2.2 and higher.
Now I get max load values around 2 and a max maf of ~300 g/s.
Probably this is based on the low measured maf voltage values of max. ~4.05 instead of 4.8-4.9V before the intake swap.
According to Virtual Dyno there's a slight increase in power.

How can it be that the main calibration is such wrong? Using the CS intake this was absolutely sufficent for my tune...

I used the 5 to 1, 5/8" thick I believe. And yes it is the amount of cells in a given space..4 to 1 would have less cells ie less restriction. I bought the one that was 86MM...its fits well. I then epoxied it in.

For the epoxy, did you use some off the shelf stuff?

mrmonk7663 08-24-2013 06:44 PM

I used some 2 part epoxy I got from work, but any of the stuff from the auto store should be fine. I think most of them are the 2 tubes that mix together. Its very strong stuff.

Quick update, 3.5" fits almost perfect with corksport airbox no modifications. Almost touches headlight but nothing is tightened up yet... AUDM 6.

Jamie, is there an ots map that will run this intake?

There are no OTS maps only MAF calibrations as mentioned above.

Sorry no it is not. There are no large intakes that are CARB legal.
