Power went out last night. Didn't see PM till I woke up and saw this thread update on my phone. Had to order from my phone before the battery died. Whew! But I'm in now. Will start a Stratified tune with this as soon as it shows up.

Great save Jamie, the hounds seem to be content lol

taf0422 07-01-2012 11:14 AM

Hurry up and buy. The sale should be open to everyone by now

Speedie6 07-01-2012 07:46 PM

I've got an MS6. I do wish I relocated the battery a long time ago, but, at this point, I don't really want to. I've got a 3" intake right now. At least with my current battery, it looks like 3.5 will be a tight squeeze. I might oval the pipe a bit going beside the battery. I guess I'll see how it fits when I get it...

Speedie6 07-01-2012 08:18 PM

It is up on Jamie's site. He has 4 similar pages, depending on whether with or without recirc, and with 2.5" or 4" coupler. Here's the page for the 4" with recirc:

3.5 Wide Path Full Intake System W/ Recirc & 4 Coupler [MS3-WP-3.5-4-RECIRC] - $265.00 : James Barone Racing, Custom Fabrication

Got mine as well, going to have to re-request ATR as my laptop HD died and took all my tuning stuff with it

Also got shipping info. By the way, on the first page, Jamie said that he hasn't had problems without an air straightener, but, if we want one, he suggested one possibility was a honeycomb unit from Treadstone:

HoneyComb MAF Mass Air Meter Airflow Straightener- TREADSTONE PERFORMANCE

Well, again, Jamie said it didn't seem required, but, it seemed to me to be something worth getting, so, I got the Treadstone unit. Well, one thing that was very dissapointing about it... Its cut out of some larger sheet. And along each little cut hex square, there was loose flash or burs or whatever you want to call it. So, while sitting on the can, I spent some time running my fingernail along each cut edge to clean the burs off. After I install it, I'll run come compressed air through it to help make sure any that I missed or something gets cleaned out.

So, I'm probably going to use it, since I bought it, but, I'd recommend finding something else or do like Jamie and go without.

exentix 07-02-2012 03:25 PM

Also, I'm sure there's gonna be plenty of threads about tuning popping up. We may want to just figure out the maf scaling and post it so people can get started. I had it figured out but I forget lol...

Speedie6 07-02-2012 03:37 PM

I hope the first batch sold out, since we had a lot of names on the list. I know some people tend to drop out, but, I hope enough followed through to sell out Jamie's first batch.

As far as tuning, I don't know jack about it. Cobb tuned my car last time, and I will have them tune it this time. I wished I got a Forced Performance turbo instead of a standard 3071. But, at the time I ordered my 3071, I didn't know about Forced Performance. So, what I'm going to do is, at the same time, get the turbo upgraded to a Forced Performance and have Cobb tune it for the new turbo & intake.

What I'm going to do this weekend is just check fitment. I bought the thing without really knowing its going to fit my MS6. But I intend to try to figure out a way to make it work if I can. So, the weekend project is just to make sure it fits, then put back on my current 3" intake. Once I got the project laid out, schedule my next trip to Cobb.

Others have wrapped electrical tape around the circumference...

I was about to post a stupid response. I didn't understand what you meant and I was going to ask how the heck wrapping electrical tape around the intake is going to work as an air straightener! LOL. I suppose you mean that others have had the same issue about loose metal around the honeycomb edges and tried using electrical tape to help prevent any possible crap from getting loose. Well, I'm not entirely sure how effective that is. When using electrical tape, I always use 33+, which is a good quality tape. But the aluminum intakes do get hot and I'm not sure how long even good electrical tape will hold up.

Now, the Treadstone site says the piece "Can be glued, braised, or epoxy'd in." I think that would be more effective than electrical tape. But, if you use glue, you'd need a high temp glue.

I have a piece of 3.5" pipe, and it does fit pretty dang tight, I don't think it will move. I think if I just make sure it has clean edges, it will be okay. But I think the ultimate best solution would be to braze it. I've tried brazing and not very good at it though. Particularly aluminum to stainless. So, I think I'll just shove it in and hope for the best. (That's what she said...)

@jbarone Got your intake today man.. its looks sexy as hell.. cant wait to install this thing after work..

also for everyone else that had gotten one.. Just a quick helpful hint. the screws for the maf sensor were sprayed while in.. at first i freak and couldnt get them out without possibly stripping them.. take a blade and slice right at the bottom of the screw to break the painted seal.. and it comes right off..

WEEEEE!!!:dance::dance:

lol how the hell you only live 2.5 hrs away from me and mine says it should be here thurs!!

JBR 07-03-2012 02:49 PM

Hey guys!! We've been very busy so I apologize for not being as active as I normally am.

I hope to have some install instructions completed in the next day or so. Basic how to, not battery removal and such. As mentioned above the the little MAF screws were intentionally left in place to protect the threads in the MAF adapter during powder coating. Use a good medium sized philips head screw driver, a bit of pressure and they will come right out. I just checked the ones here and they came out no problem.

Also the new filters have some oil residue on the lip that slides on to the intake from the manufacturing process; wipe it off. The filter will want to slide back off of the bead rolled in to the end of the intake if you don't. The T-Bolt clamp will do a fine job of securing it as well.

Hope you all have a happy and safe 4th. Commencing partying now....

Thanks,
Jamie

I guess in that case, I and some others didn't need to bitch about the first-dibs issue. Sorry 'bout that chief!. At any rate, thanks for giving us first-dibs just in case.

I still need to order your AP mount.

How can you tell? I thought USPS tracking only told you about where a package had been, not when it would be delivered. Mine just says it left some center in MO earlier today.

It says expected delivery date as July, 5th

Make sure you go on USPS's site itself, through stamps it will not tell you the expected delivery date.

Hahaha. You just want me and @atvfreek to work out all the hiccups first :) cant wait to see what you can pull off with it. You will definitely get more gain out of the intake than me.
