So, I finally got my hands on Jamie's pipe this morning. Its so fat and stout and hard and ridged. It has a gorgeous deep dark black color, while the texture is so manly that I can't keep my hands off it. I stroke the sides of it, up and down and around. I'm just imagining how tight of a fit its going to be! I can't wait to stick it in...

Oh... sorry... got carried away...

Actually, I've got a problem, I don't think it is going to work for me. I am pretty sure its going to hit my piping for my CPE FMIC. But, Jamie's pipe is so gorgeous, I might consider fabing some rerouted piping for the FMIC. I guess I'll have to study this thing.

A very minor quibble. The end of the pipe that the filter goes is beaded. But the turbo end isn't. Nor is the breather connection beaded. Now, true, I don't really expect either to pop loose. Still, a bead is nice to have to be sure. No big deal, I'm sure it is fine.

I can't bead the breather, the tube is too small to fit the dies in and the turbo end requires at least 1" of straight pipe to bead correctly or the machine will mangle the pipe. The radius of the 3.5" bends is what prevents this. Not an issue though as mentioned above; there is no positive pressure. You can see that the Re-circ connection we beaded and the filter end as well.

I'm very please with how this piece came out and I'm positive you guys will be as well.

Thanks,
Jamie

Good answer, thanks!

I don't really know how I'm going to be able to stick your fat pipe in, but, I'm going try...

twist it first, you will feel it break loose and spin freely, then twist and pull at the same time to remove.

Back like 2008 maybe, I was actually selling turbo inlet pipes. You might occasionally see someone's mods list include a "Speedie6 TIP". It was made of 60 mm aluminum. It looked a lot like the current Cobb piece for stock turbos, other than of course being metal. But once Cobb and CPE started selling silicone pieces for less than I could sell my aluminum one, I was out of business.

The only reason I point this out is mainly to stroke my own ego, I mean, to point out that I could wind up having something custom fabbed again. I've done it before, so I could do it again. In fact, I probably should have gone that route. On the other hand, your piece looked so nice, and doing measurements and test fitments over and over was a pain in the ass the last time. So, I figured I would jump on yours and see if I could make it work.

Now, I happen to have an additional complication, one that made me figure that I was almost sure to have some problems. And that is, my GT3071 isn't in stock location. Steadspeed made some manifolds that swung the turbo a bit further away from the engine, and a bit more towards the firewall. I got one of those, and so I actually need a special intake that is something like an 1" longer towards the firewall.

What I had guestimated before even ordering your piece was that I'd probably have to hack in an extra piece of 3.5" pipe or an extra bend or something. Of course, one might say that if I was going to go to that much trouble I might as well just start from scratch. But, I thought even if I had to hack it some, it might be someone easier than starting from scratch.

That was why I had tried to order the piece unfinished -- so that if I decided to hack it, I wouldn't be hacking a finished piece. But, you were only offering them finished. So, I decided to just order the thing and see how it swings. I had a pretty good idea that massive problems awaited, but, I figured what the fuck, give it a shot.

It is such a nice piece that if all I can do with it is rub my hands up and down it and jack off on it, its probably still worth the money paid, LOL...

I second this! There is no reason to remove it from the ebc itself. Just remove from the intake. I learned the hard way the first time I went to remove my inlet pipe when it was stock.

BTW car is up and running. Moving through my revisions on the car. @atvfreek and I have gotten the trims with +/-2 in just 2 revisions. What can I say, Justin is kind of a big deal. Just started doing 3rd pulls with it and waiting on a 3rd revision at this time. The intake has even make my bpv sound different in a good way

Just started doing 3rd pulls with it and waiting on a 3rd revision at this time. The intake has even make my bpv sound different in a good way
I would just leave it, but Jamie said that hes pretty sure the factory line is too short for his intake setup, which is why he included the extended line. Im going to try and use the stock line if i have to take it off I'll try just to cut it vertically like someone else metnioned.

I was wondering this too. It seems like it won't be an issue when looking under the hood. But now you got me thinking twice.

If it fits the 3's smaller engine bay its gotta fit in the 6....?

After 2 hours of cursing, sweating, and a lot of bug bites I finally got mine on. Did everyone else remove the white clip that is holding the + side of the battery terminal and the ECU wires to get it to fit better? I had a hell of a time trying to get the positive side of the battery terminal to reach the battery. I got it back on, but am unable to get the battery cover back on.

With the terminal wires outside the plastic piece it gives you an extra 3-4" to play with so you can route them in from the bottom of the box and reassemble everything.

Thanks, I'll have to fix that tomorrow. Also like how you covered the ECU wires with the factory shield.

No one else has had problems with the bracket location on the intake? Mine was off about 1/2". I fabbed up an extended bracket, it could work how it is but it won't seat on the turbo to my liking. I also decided to fab up a whole new battery tray, the fitment is herra tight in there. Good luck to those keeping the stock set up.

I did and luckily with Jamies packaging the filter and everything else was at the undamaged end.

Yea whats unusual is ive never received a package from them like this. Maybe a heavier package not thinking it would be to heavy got set on it along the way.. who knows. But all is well, just a few more parts to collect then its BT time.

I removed the the white cover around the wiring as well. Then I removed the battery tie down and slid the battery forward to get the terminal to match up. I will probably go back later as soon as I can get the tune worked out to straighten everything up correctly.

I did notice that right now if I'm coasting to a light with the clutch in or out the rpm's bounce from 900-1100 while coming to a stop.

ah ok it wont hurt not having that? i would assume they put it there for a reason, but if the only reason is so the wires can mount to the metal deal then thats no big deal to remove. just wanna be sure

Only reason its there is to clean up all of the wires, you can remove it to get more play for the battery terminal and then just zip tie the remaining wires to help keep it clean. Thats the route I'm going once this heat wave is over, to damn hot to be outside right now.
