It looks sooooooo good









too bad i have to make a couple tweaks lol. Was too close to the AC line for my liking... and flange needs to be a bit tweaked. But it was damn close for first attempt and cleared the driveshaft tunnel great.

Tomorrow night i'll make the tweaks and get it lined up perfect, then tweak the jig and build a second one for proof.

just realized i said tweak alot... i must be tweaking. Bed time... then day job... then more tweaking

ok so I don't like the looks of a turbo blanket...if I go to all the trouble of top mount I wantz to see that biatch...

soooo ya think a guy could source some of that same material and install it under the hood like the OEM chit?

isn't that why you are wraping the turbo? or is it the cowl that will have the trouble?

Turbine socks have alot of benefits actually. By holding in the heat, they increase torque and spool. They also prevent extreme heat cycling (hot to cold) which can fatigue the casting.

Plus... the blingy part of the turbo is the compressor, not the turbine. Turbines always end up looking like rust turds anyway after a few months of driving.

Just wanted to let you know that my ride finally showed up today. The guy I bought it from disconnected the Standback so the shippers wouldn't joy ride on full power. I took a run to the store and holy SHIT...with just full bolt-ons and stock tune this car is pulling all over the place in 3rd, haha. I hooked the Standback up and I'm gonna fill the WMI tank up tomorrow. After I get used to this power, it's time for Dustin's Top Mount + gt2871r ftmfw!!!!

from a guy runnin a a GT28 go with a 3071...unles you are autox or road racing...and even then you can get the 3071 to power early enough.

As far as displacement goes the 3071 is perfect for the 2.3.

wait just a minute...no.... the GT28 is perfect.....

if you don't have your turbo yet....I have an ATP GT2871 that could be for sale...around 7K miles of very gental driving...

I do like my GT28 for sure but if i had it to do over again I would go with a 3071. IMO the 28 is what the car should have come with for a good balance.

I am sure with the GT28 there would be like 80% fewer blown motors.

Based on how the car feels right now, I don't need a 3071...the 2871 will give me plenty of power and since I have a built motor, I'm not afraid to crank the boost a little more. I'll most likely get power hungry and throw a 3076 on this bitch, but I want to use the turbo I have now for old time's sake when it was on my SVT Focus

My history since its late and DJ is at his GF laying some of the SS pipe....

When I ordered my GT28 there was still a load cap around for the AP guys....I researched and found that the 3071 is the best fit for our motors...well, I didn't think I could de-tune a 3071 to stay under the load cap with negative MAF scaling, IWG, etc, so I got the GT28...fastforward only 2 months after I got my GT28 up and running and Cobb removed the cap...FML

hahahah

you will love the difference between the K04 and GT28 for sure man!

I am sure if I were to get back on the dyno I would lay down 370 WHP.

Haha...well, depends on how high I can rev. Pauter rods + Arias pistons...I'm thinkin a little over 7k should be safe, but then the crank will start to become the weak point. I think I would go for a 3582 if SteedSpeed could put out a nice intake manifold.
