Default aftermarket shift cables

How many people would be interested in a shift cable for our car that is 10 times the quality of the stock one at a comparable price? I already have this in the works, and im teaming up with hybrid racing to get it done. I seen their cables at import alliance and holy shit these things are nice and very durable. I have broken two cables and i know other have as well. At 300 each i would rather spent 350 and get a cable that will never break or bend or stretch. I was already told thaT the cables would be between 300-350

No offense, but fuck that noise. $300? I've never seen a shifter cable break, and you may have another issue if yours keeps doing it. It would be a good idea if you happen to break it then replace with this one, but I doubt many people will replace without damage

I think that sounds awesome. Will they be using a metal sleeve instead of the plastic sleeve thats on the stock one in the engine bay?

Never hurts to have a choice between OEM and aftermarket. I am assuming this is for a ms3 though?

@sureb00st yes the sleeve will be metal, and we are trying to figure out if the speed6 cable is the same as the speed3. Also we need to know if the gen pu is the same as the gen juan. I have heard of many cables breaking or bending. It is not an issue with my car. As any parts manager Bout the cable and they will tell you that the plastic sleeve is a known weak link.

I recall a few threads with broken cables, have having to tear the dash apart to replace them.

I have replaced my cable on speed3 you do not have to pull the dash,
And it only takes about 45 minutes to do it.
On the six i believe you do have to pull the dash though. I know having this cable made will be a great thing simply because of the quality, and our lack of aftermarket options. @Meder has also replaced his cable and it is a night and day difference. The notchiness when shifting is almost completely gone.

@uncorked11 what do you think of the idea? I mean if we could even get thirty people together and do a group buy it would benefit us. Plus hybrid racing is a reputable company and i was told they want to broaden their market outside of honda. There parts are quality. I have seen them in person. There shift cable is a masterpiece in my opinion. It resembles our cable almost completely and i was told that they would most likey only have to change the lenth.

Lots of speed shifter cables are in shitty condition. It could be from miss shifts or people that hit the divider between first and third but they tend to flex and crack the plastic guide within the cable.

My car shifted good too...until i drove someone elses car. Many people have questionable shift cables and just pass it off on something else such as needing motor mounts. The same piece people tend to break when installing short shift plates is the weak point.

Shift cables will help this platform a lot. We do go through a lot of shift cables but no one seems to speak up. The oem mazda cable is 300 - id be willing to pay 350 for better cables. Ive seen several bad shift cables already, the plastic guide is weak and will break.

The shift cable snapping issues have been, I believe, from the plastic sleeve breaking, causing friction on the cable itself until it snaps. A second factor is the connector in the engine bay -- the one that hooks to the shift linkage -- breaking, requiring a new cable. It's more common than it appears, and MUCH easier to fix in the MS3 than the MS6.

Do you have the procedure to replace the shifter cable in 45 minutes? Also, I believe it would be the same setup for the Mazda 5? The 3 and 5 seem to be the same.
Thanks!!
