Bottom threads for alternator fucked 4 Attachment(s) Bought this engine. Puttin it together and found this. Not sure how to repair. Get welded and drill and tap? Maybe just drill and tap and drill alt hole and use a larger bolt? The fact that it cracked thru the back end of hole has me a bit worried...maybe just seal it and weld alt to block...cant do that...WTF happend here? Weld a stud in would be best bet im thinking now... |
Its alumn. So, you want to drill it out with the supplied HELICOIL kit. This is the CORRECT way to do it. Let me google that for you |
Yeah a stud is definitely your best bet. Weld in the crack first to fill it, then weld a stud in. Someone probably had the wrong bolt for the location and didnt think about it, and cranked it down till it cracked through the block |
