I understand that, but a platform only dies when the enthusiasts do. They have the ability to keep it alive, once they lose interest, then it is dead. I have a friend with an Oldsmobile Cutlass international. There was only like 1200 ever made, for one year in 1990... But therir forum is kicking, their enthusiasm for a shitty plastic gm is still going. Vendor support is gone, their vendor is rock auto and Amazon.... But the platform is still on the road and alive, because they (the enthusiasts) keep it that way.

This forum IS dead compared to its heyday. Mazdaspeed is a "dead" platform because they're out of production. We're lucky to still have vendors developing and supporting new parts for us; if the masses automatically shit on new releases before giving them a chance to be proven good, though, then those vendors will eventually walk away.

Iím not disagreeing with you, but it would be kinda hard for CS to walk away since they only make Mazda parts. But other than that I agree.

That's why CS has a newer Miata in their stable. For a business to stay in business, they need to keep up with the times. Supporting older, maybe bead, platforms becomes more of a hobby than a purpose. If the people working at CS didn't have speeds, they would have slowed down development long ago.

I thought a few months ago I got an email from CS telling about a sister website basically developing parts for the newer civics. Can’t remember the website name, but I do think it’s possible they might focus a lot more attention away from Mazda’s. I don’t think they would stop but development could slow down and focus attention else where.

Found the website

honestly, with a dead platform, this motor costs almost full retail value of our cars at this point... it's rough out here man. smart money is gonna DIY and everyone else is gonna buy a longblock off the internet.

If the vendors you mentioned are building badass engines it would benefit them if they were on the forums. Iím also not really on any social media, including FB, so I could just be blind to what I havenít seen through those outlets. Iíll definitel check them out though. Iím looking to build mine maybe next summer so seeing that CS dropped this option was good to know. Iím not gravitating towards CS for an engine as I have a local tuner in the area who I trust with my car so if theyíre available to build it that would be my first choice.

Any plans to come back down in the summer?
Of course man. I'm down in that area at least once a month...feel free to hit me up!

EBTEC has been around a while and I personally know ~10 or so people in the community who are currently rocking motors built by them, some with pretty high miles... locally in GA there are plenty more. I view them as the tried and true option in the community (and that's as someone who's pretty far away, too), not CS, because they have been in the game for a long time and have never let anyone down. They don't need to advertise or have a presence on the forums because their reputation precedes them. Just writing this for your consideration and others...

This is pure obstinance. Having more options is always better. Active support is a huge positive. What purpose is there in driving away continued development? Is your sense of pride that "we don't need them anymore" really that strong?

having more options is fine, but they haven't delivered a motor yet. why don't you buy one and tell us what a great deal it is instead of pretending corksport is out here doing something revolutionary for us.

It was literally just releaed; that's why I've said multiple times that we should simply give these motors a chance to prove themselves before blasting them as a useless endeavor. Yes, they could turn out to have issues and if that's the case, then fair is fair. But until then, is it so awful to give benefit of the doubt that this could potentially be a viable option for someone who needs/wants a built motor in a short timeframe?

I do agree with this to some degree but mo'fuckas will be restoring these beasts eventually. I got my '09 Speed for about 9500 w/ 98k miles. These engines are pricey but the extras on top of it are nice.

Also, what is an MSF Shithead? You like a the doodoo buttah? Mmmmmm

#5 with regards to BNR, how many products has BNR burned me on? 0. How many products has CS burned me on? 3.
What has CS burned you on? I kind of have a hard time believing they'll get a motor out as quick as they're advertising. It took them nearly a month to get about 2k worth of random parts out that were in stock according to customer support who replied 1 time then left me hanging for a few weeks.

I do appreciate they're still moving on our platform and did get a hand written card from Chris @ CS. Parts work fine, install instructions are a little sketchy but I'm a newb and still figured it out.
