Default Fuel door switch stuck

I pulled into a gas station today and tried to open the fuel door but the switch wouldn't go up. It was just stuck. I pulled hard but didn't want to break it. Eventually we got it open by going through the trunk and pulling on the release to unlock the fuel door.... however the switch is still stuck. Any ideas?

I'm running without a skid plate. Could that possibly cause any issues with the fuel door switch?

The cable's run through the interior of the car, so the lack of a skidplate would have no impact.

I recently decided to ditch the switch and cable. I just pull the trigger in the trunk. However, I unintentionally unhooked the spring that hold the pin in place. That diagram doesn't show the spring attached to item 2. #BecaseRacecar

Must be a racecar thing. Mine stuck years ago, so I just have a little cable dangling in the trunk to open the fuel door. Not bad, since I have to get in the back to get my Meth to put in the tank anyways.

Like it was said, because racecar :-)

Magically worked again today. Maybe it was a temp related issue?

I will try lubing up the pin. I would not want to lose the spring that holds it down.
