Default the grimmspeed 3 port boost solenoid (EBC)

so im getting my car tuned and i was wondering about this 3 port boost soleniod any feedback would be nice. just kinda want to get the idea of how it works and if it is tunable with the access port. thanks

3 port EBCS with a larger than stock turbo with EWG, it will manage boost better with a proper AP tune.

You can still realize the benefits of a 3 port without going bigger turbo.

I feel like I'm talking / going in circles. Like I remember I got bitched out on the Mazda forum because I said I was going to use a mbc and everyone called me stupid and I was going to blow my motor. So I feel like if I get this ebc with a tune I should be fine if they set it to a good boost pressure correct?

The grimmspeed has not worked for anyone i know of with Big turbo and EWG. Not me especially.. look into it before the buy mine sits plugged in but unused

But Brian would you of bought the 3 port if you were still on your stock turbo? Do you think I could add a few pounds safely?

if i was still on stock turbo i would use the factory solenoid... or a MBC

im pretty sure dustin, the mazdaspeed guru says good things about it

I can't even pretend to know how to tune for a 3 port etc. but I had an Evo, and one of the best tuners on the east coast tuned my car. I was on a stock turbo, and he said that a 3 port would make an appreciable difference in the ability to control boost and in overall boost response.

I would imagine the person @ Cobb could explain their recommendation and you could decide whether or not it would be worth it for you to utilize a 3 port.

You went from a evo to a speed 3 ? Must of been a big difference. My buddy has a evo nine. With tbe intake lower intercooler piping and cams valve springs and tuned at cbrd.and it's very fast. And I guess I won't use the 3 port until I decied to go big turbo. If it won't even work.

The three port solenoid is better than the stock solenoid and it will help with control the boost. I don't have any experience with this particular solenoid, but my AEM three port works like a charm

But you have a big turbo. My debate is if will do any good on the stock turbo with a tune. Or is it even worth it.

I don't know who Tim bailey is but I'm kind of leaning towards a 3 port just too control it better like j Wilkins said. Does Tim bailey have a 3 port?

Dude j wilk your speed 3 must be really nice. Almost 500whp. Is crazy. I hope I myself will see that for my speed6 one day. Who's the guy Dustin who tuned your car. I see z lot of people have been tuned by him with big turbos.

You DO realize that what you have is a Boost Control Selenoid, and not an Electronic Boost Controller. The ECU controls the BCS. This is why it is "plug and play". Read up on BCS. I think someone provided a link a few posts up.

I am going with the Grimmspeed 3 port for my 3071 ewg setup. The Grimmspeed has had high praise for other platforms for awhile, but for some reason Cobb tuners were having some issues with 3port on the mazdaspeed 3/6. That is NO longer the issue, they have now gotten around that and it is what many Cobb Tuners prefer to tune a Big turbo with.

Yes Tim Bailey is a fuckin Genius. He is one of the elite tuners in this country. He has worked with other tuning solutions besides Cobb for many years as well. I would dare to say he might be the best Subaru tuner in North America, and as for the mazda platform, well hes the guy behind the scenes last couple of years,developing maps and tuning for our car, so yeah fuckin awesome...If you plan to get tuned by him, you will be in good hands

i was also going to pick up the 3port to run with my stock turbo for awhile and having it if/when i got big....my understanding though in the stock form...it is plug and play....it doesnt seem we have come to a conclusion either way here...

NOTE it is not a Electronic boost controller...it is simply an upgrade boost soleniod...thats why me thinks plug and play with the stock turbo and tune is a-ok

I am running the grimmspeed 3 port on stock turbo. It allowed me to up my boost and run less wgdc to do it. Its very easy to tune it with atr, i would suggest using the new boost based tuning. Start with low values in you wgdc tables and work up from there. Boost as never been smoother for me and my car feels great!

Just noticed i dont have vip status anymore, time to donate again. Def well worth it!

I was 99.999999% sure...but just for you Brian lol, I called surgeline little bit ago. YES sir, you can indeed run Big turbo+EWG and Grimmspeed 3 port.
