Looking at a MS6, thoughts Hey guys. I joined months ago in my hunt for a white MS6. I found another one so here I am again. I plan to give them a call tomorrow. But check it out http://www.gatorchrysler.net/used/Ma...73b2bc454a.htm CARFAX Vehicle History Report for this 2006 MAZDA MAZDASPEED6 AWD: JM1GG12LX61103467 I've read the common things to look out for, but I'm pretty excited. Seems like a good price but I'm going to give it a good comb over tomorrow. |
It says "the car is no longer listed for sale". |
sorry, broken link. fixed |
It has a CEL. Make sure to check what it is and get them to fix it |
good point. |
Good luck to you. I strongly recommend fighting your emotions on this. You have probably been looking for a while and are ready to buy ... but don't let that cloud your judgement. |
In all honesty, dealers (especially used car dealers are hit or miss......and more miss than hits!) I would be VERY thorough in your inspection, and if anything raises a red flag, RUN not walk away! Make sure they have maintenance records at the very least. |
Painted or plastidipped rear and front mazda emblems. Rear mazdaspeed emblem gone. Painted/tined side markers... maybe rears too, but I can't see in the pictures. Minor mods from what I can tell. Why no engine bay pictures? I could tell you much more if I could look at that. Looks like the extension of the antenna on the roof is gone. Is this a GT or a sport? I thought only GT's had the leather seating? Based on the steering wheel picture where you can kind of see the key in there it looks like the non credit card style key which would be a sport. I also can't see in the pictures the request switches on the doors. So yeah I don't know how that works out. Does it have heated seats? Either way, make sure it has two keys. GT credit card style is expensive to get new keys. The other style isn't AS bad but still expensive. |

Anything that you could imagine with this car was wrong. She handed me a single, tiny key. No fob, no credit card thing, nothing. Just a regular key. She said I could get them on ebay for $20, I was like: "uh, no these are like $400...." Onto the car.. The wheels were so badly curb rashed it look like someone took a bend sander to the first 3" around every wheel. Disregarding the missing Mazda centercaps, and the horrible PlastiDip job on the wheels to hide the rash as well. It had three different brands of tires, all down to the wear bars. Obvious paint overspray on the front. Tint was peeling. The white on the seats were like 5 different shades from stains. The drivers seat was worn to hell. A/C smelled like cigarettes. Half of the window switches didnt work. Mats missing. Very loud tick when idling. It pulled to the right HARD. Drove worse than a 90s Civic on slammed suspension. It made my 98 F-150 with 450,000 miles feel like a brand new cadillac. I've never driven a MS6 but I really hope they aren't as underpowered as this one, because it was slooooow. Then when we came back I smelled oil. The fluid levels were all low and the car was dirty. The engine bay looked like its never been cleaned. It was covered in a layer of dirt and crap, they didn't even bother washing it. Previous owner was a 26 year old and you could tell he drove the thing to hell and back. I told the lady it was a POS and I know Mazdas (more than the idiot people that have been looking at it). I told her NADA had it at 4000, KBB 4500. I told her I would start talking at 5k. She said "we are the most competitively priced on the Mazdaspeed 6 in Florida right now" (meaning she went online, found the others at 10-14k, and just dropped a couple of grand and thought that would work). I told her I went to look at one in Jacksonville last month with HALF the mileage in much better condition for $9k. She said "sorry I'm firm on the price". I laughed and walked away. regardless of it all, looking at this car (what it used to be), I can see myself in one. I've been in love with the 06/07 MS6 since they came out. I will have one. I can see myself in one. The search continues for my dream car: 06/07 Whitewater Pearl Mica Mazdaspeed 6 Grand Touring Moonroof Panda Interior Under 100k miles Good shape. AS STOCK AS POSSIBRU! Let me know what you find! |
:D |
.........Sooooo, you didn't buy it?!?! Sounds like a gem!! |
bwahaahaha. with the condition of the exterior, thinking the engine got the same amount of care....that engine will probably be Zoom Zoom Boom in a week. Also, I noticed they cleared the CEL before I got there.... |
I would have offered them a kit kat and the cigarette butts I found on the dealership floor. That would have surely covered the cost! I am telling now, I have NEVER had any luck with any dealers (ESPECIALLY USED CAR) dealers I have EVER been to! Just a little word of advice. You will find one! Just keep searching and exercise as much patience as you can. Trust me, if you miss a deal, another WILL popup! |
Wow ... did you at least get a blow job out of it? Seriously though ... good on ya for not being a shit-for-brains about it and moving on. Don't worry man! You'll get one eventually. |
It was a 4.5 hour drive there and 4.5hrs back. I just got home (8pm) and I've been on the road since 9am. I was near that car for all of 20 mins. :/ |
Also, I have realized: No car is worth more than a 1.5 hr trip at most (the only vehile that ended being worth it is my current track car. But I knew going in it was NOT my DD, and was willing to have the car down weeks at a time!) My time is much too precious for me to be chasing "deals". In addition, my definition of "clean, unmolested, properly maintained" I have come to realize about 95% of the people out there do not share the same definition. So when someone describes a vehicle as above, when I end up driving 2, 3 or 5 hrs one way to see one and I get here, it turns to shit! Also, another reason I do not travel much too far for a vehicle is simple: I feel more pressured to buy a vehicle if I have to "work" to get to see it, meaning: "damn, I drove 4 hrs and do not want to go home empty handed!" Biggest mistake you can make (which it seems you have your head on your shoulder and didn't make the mistake). Patience is key to finding a proper example of one of these vehicles. I turned away a higher mileage car, as although it was as clean as a whistle and was well withing my price range, no records were kept and I simply walked. Turns out, it worked out great, as I found one not in as good a condition on the surface several weeks later, but was a one female owner vehicle with ok maintenance records and was below 85,000 miles! The price was also several thousands LESS than the original clean one! Moral of the story: Keep the traveling to a minimum, and keep the patience to a maximum and you will most definitely be happy in the end! |
