Default Manual shift cables slipping out of bracket-help

Recently I was driving and when I tried to shift, I felt the cable pop when I shifted to 2nd and I couldn't shift anymore. After limping home in 2nd gear, I found out that the plastic collar that fits into the bracket that holds the sheathing for the shift cables (under the intake airbox) slipped out of the bracket. Right now I just have some scrap wire holding it in place, but I would like something more permanent without having to by a ~$300 set of new shift cables. I am nervous that it might come loose again while I am driving. Any advice?

Got a pic? The ms6 has clips that hold the cable in the bracket.
