Ok, the bracket is installed. The right belt is a 810k6, took me two trips to O'Reilly's to get it right. Here's some before and after shots.

Mann I don't know if I could give power steering up! I love the way it felt on previous cars but I feel like it would be a bitch on a heavy car with big tires and dual lbj

Ok, got the caster bushings and the revised control arms. The control arms have bushings pressed in unevenly, pictured in the left one, I guess this pushes the control arm forward and results in less caster.

The caster bushings are installed on the lower rear control arm and you rotate the bushing such that the LCA moves toward the rear which also results in less caster.

I guess I will start with the cater bushings to evaluate the changes in increments....

Guess that means the rest of us can offset the bushings the other way to gain caster

Assuming that offset bushing will not be pushed in when you tighten the bolts.... not sure if possible but as you can see there is nothing there to keep the bushing in the offset position?

Just good ole friction! When I did the WL uppers, they were a pretty tight press-fit, I doubt they slip.

Edit: since they're offset forward and that rearward bushing flange touches the control arm, it should prevent it from slipping. Nothing to worry about, imo.

I'm so jealous that you don't have to take a ps pump off anymore to remove the mani.

For someone who is concerned about reducing vehicle weight to all possible extents, and without regard to detriments in ride comfort, I am surprised to see you have chosen to keep the dynamic dampers on the front upper control arms.

These are pictures of brand new parts so they have the dampers on them. Dampers from the rear are removed, don't remember if fronts are removed as well.

Are you adding more static camber to the mix to compensate a bit?

Based off of the tire temps last time, I only added more camber on RF. Will post the tire temp gradients after the weekend and see how the car feels and will go from there. I have two consecutive hpde weekends so I can always get another alignment next week if the car feels like shit. I went with 0 toe on all 4 corners too, maybe I should have gone with a little bit of toe in all around, but I want to see the tire wear first. I will be running almost brand new NT01's in 245/45/17.

You just blew my mind with that first picture. 'Why would he have a ziptie on the pulley? It's almost like ... he ... doesn't ... want ... it ... to come off while threading the others!' That would have saved me much swearing last fall when I was doing the belt change solo. Most of my time was spent rethreading the belt when it'd pop off of pulleys. The rest was lost trying to get a belt that could not have any shorter to slide on. Luckily I did it mid-day and everyone's kids were at school instead of home listening to me scream obscenities at my car.

Yeah, every time when I cleaned the valves and had to push the p/s pump sideways to access that hidden IM bolt, I would use 1 or 2 zip ties to keep the belt from slipping off the pulley.

Time for a lil update.... Did two HPDE weekends in a row, May 14-15 and 21-22.

The manual steering with less caster is amazeballs, I even switched back to a 350 mm steering wheel and can turn the wheel with one hand in parking lots once the car starts moving.

The first weekend some dumbasses put several cones on the blend line and of course I hit a cone coming down from the main straight which fucked up the plastic undertray in front of the radiator and the fucking cone on its exit tore up the passenger exhaust shroud. @Voltwings; and I spend like a fucking hour removing all the carnage from my car and zip tying shit back together. I already replaced all the missing pieces, $420, FML.

The tire temps and hot tire pressures for the first two sessions were as follows:

Code:
out mid ins | ins mid out
---------------------------
177 180	191 193 202 220
140 150 158 166 167 165
-----
37 39
38 38
Went -4 psi RF, -1 psi RR.

Code:
166 170 185 192 196 212
140 152 162 165 170 163
-----
39 36
38 38
Went - 3 psi RF, -2 psi RR.

At the end of the day, the cold pressures were:

Code:
29 25.5
31 28
Added 2 psi to RF before Sunday.

The Sunday tire pressures at which the temp gradient was good except the RF were around:

Code:
39 35
37 35
And the cold temp taken on Monday were:

Code:
30.5 26
31 28
Looking at the tire temps and the front tire pictures, I am pretty sure I mislabeled RF and LF.... I still need more camber on the RF.

This was also the first time I was running Ferodo DSUNO brake pads. After removing the old Endless pads, I see I could use them for another weekend or so, oh well. The caliper temps were the highest I have ever seen, I almost reached the top of the first temp stripe. Can't tell much difference between the old and the new compound, both stop and stop and stop without any fade whatsoever, now, however, with manual steering and less caster the car wants to wander a little bit when trail braking, something I need to get used to or I need to further play with alignment. Noticed one anti-rattle clip/spring was missing from one pad, will get a replacement at some point but not crucial for now.

The second HPDE weekend was not as exciting as first, I switched tires around, putting the "best" tire on RF, Saturday was great, on Sunday there was thick fog and instead of starting at 8:30 we waited until 9:30 at which point it turned out there was no ambulance on site as someone fucked up the scheduling. So we waited a bit more and at 11am there was an announcement that there was an ambulance heading toward the speedway from Austin, at which point I was so angry that I just left home. I learned to listen to those little voices in my head and not drive when the evil side takes over.

Both weekends I hit some 2:02 laps, still have to go through logs and videos, have been too lazy though as I am already planning the next round of mods so my energies are directed elsewhere.

That's a third or fourth cone I have ever hit..... This group also puts cones at turn-ins, apexes, and track-outs, of course once in a while you go way too wide on a track out and you know what happens....

On turn in and apexes I think it's pretty standard. At least around here.
Never seen them on track outs. That's definitely full retard. Like the cones is suppose to tell you what? you are running out of track? lol.

Maybe it's to get folks to slow down and make it less likely that they drop a wheel? Some of the most gnarly accidents I have seen are from folk in RWD cars dropping the outside tire on exit and spinning out. I dunno, I've never seen it either and putting cones out at turn in and apex seems like a crutch too. Gotta learn to make your own markers early, should be one of the first things you learn.

I agree with you, but most of these event organizers are more worried about keeping people safe than teaching people how to "draw their own lines" (and rightly so!)... I think you're spot-on with your assessment of why some use track-out cones. I'm fortunate enough that the group I run with most often leaves them out of the mix. There's already enough orange on the course...

I agree. But as a novice, reference points have been hard for me to learn. even with the cones.
