Yes, guess who gave the very first "thank you". I am now rocking the SPC ball joints, this was one of the very first mods I had done to the car.

We are a bit slow on some parts unfortunately. The idea from the customer was great too.

On the brightside Derrick, a lot of us are OEM on some of these suspension parts, like myself, and are getting good wear and tear so there should be a nice payback for you guys if you get it right and quality and pricing.

Changed the rotors and pads in the front today, the pads were gone gone gone. Noticed a tear in the piston boot, I guess I can replace just the boot, onlinemazdaparts has a "master cylinder repair kit" for $149 and a "caliper overhaul kit" for $25, I bet this is the more expensive part. But there is also a right caliper listed for $163 so I may just buy the whole thing?

I decided that the pads and rotors in the rear are still good for another few weekends, they look nowhere as bad as the fronts.

Bled the brakes using the Motive bleeder with a universal adapter, it is a pain in the ass to hook up this stupid chain to the reservoir but once you have it, it is super easy to bleed.

And here's the insides of my rear tires, the fronts had an even wear. Pressure, alignment, both?

In any case, I already have 245/45/17 Direzzas ZII mounted and balanced on the other set of rims, will heat cycle them next time during the first session, switch to the Hankooks, hope that they last the remaining three sessions, then switch back to the Direzzas the following day.

Hey @jroc; I know that Miata guys like running 225's on 9" rims. From the Miata forum:

The Toyo/Nitto carcass is wider than 225mm:

They have a very slight "pull" and that is a world of benefit in terms of feel, pressures, and ultimate grip. I prefer a 205 on an 8" wheel over a 225, and the slight stretch is significantly faster.

Have you ever tried 225's or 235's on the MS6 on 9" rims? Does it work for the MS6?

I was running zero toe in the rear, alignment was with me in the car,, but that was before the cage build, I guess I should get another alignment, FLM.

One thing to look at is how the suspension moves when it is compressed, is there some toe generated and how much? We have to tweak some things we did on the b-spec for the loaded suspension vs static to get the best results.

205's are fast on an 8, 225's are considerably faster on 9's. ill be switching to 9's and 225's (most likely NT01s) for next season pending what my hp is looking like.

Had no idea, will look into it, thanks!

This weekend I am running with NASA in HPDE3, and next weekend with the Drivers Edge in Yellow. Then there is the Andy Lally advanced driving clinic in November. I just got a GoPro and will post some videos!

Still waiting for the coilovers.

Mazdaspeed Motorsports has an AC delete kit for the MX5. It fits our motor and comes with a prperly sized belt. It's basically an idler pully that replaces one of the bolts on the timing cover. Hope that helps you out.

Edit: I posted in the wrong thread. Mods please feel free to delete this post if necessary.

Subbed and reading an epic build and looking forward to doing the same to my MS6, until the end. That sucks about the fire, man. But glad you're okay and will be rebuilding.

Goes running off to Mazdaspeed to find the part. Thanks for the heads up for us!

Looks like the idler pulley is part LF17-15-940E : $56.66
And non-a/c belt part LF9M-15-909A : $34.96
@Celestspeed3; , can you please confirm these part numbers and/or 2013 Mazda Miata?

I can't confirm the part number but that's what AMG uses on their MS3 racecar.

There was a fire school held at the Texas World Speedway, here is a video worth watching:

Did you know that fiberglass and carbon fiber fires cannot be extinguished with dry chem?

November 16-17 was the first road racing weekend after the car caught on fire September 21. I started tuning with @atvfreek; on October 24 to adjust for the catless DP and we were getting some serious boost creep. I was targeting 21 psi, ended up hitting 25 psi at redline in 40 degree weather. The car felt like a wild bronco though, here's a VD plot.

The ECU was dumping the wastegate completely open at 5000 rpms, Justin tweaked the tune a bit but there is still some creep in colder weather. At this point it is mechanical, the wastegate is just not big enough.

Sam, the cage builder, drove my car for a few laps and showed me some new tricks. Here is a short clip. Notice the ghetto mount for the AP.

Sam's comments about the car:

1. Suspension is too soft - nothing I can do about for the moment, still waiting for my coilovers, they are supposed to be ready "by the end of the year".

2. Brake bias. Sam felt like the front brakes were doing all the work. Is there a proportioning valve we can buy for the speed6?

I was running brand new 245/45/17 Direzzas ZII, the grip was awesome. Sam heated the tires quite a bit and after 1.5 laps the car started pushing. I was running too much pressure in the front tires. I went another 3 psi down, and measued cold after the weekend the pressures were:

Code:
      +-----+
   27 |o | 25.5
      | |
      | |
      | |
 27.5 +-----+ 29
For the future, I will start with 29 psi cold on a hot day, 32 psi on a cold day and adjust from there.

I run a more aggressive brake compound in the rear to shift the bias a little bit.

I am already running XP12 all around, I guess I could run XP16 or XP20 in the rear although they seem pretty aggressive.

A catless DP does creep on the BNR without some porting of the WG or some "restriction" introduced either on the exhaust or intake side.

I have a feeling you will creep in warmer weather as well. What are your plans to address it (if any)?

The cheapest solution would be another DP, but the cp-e hi-flow cat failed after only 5 months during which I did only 8 track days. I am not wiling to unbolt the DP twice a year to see if the cat rattles and if so send it out for warranty work. Is there another company offering a full DP with a hi-flow cat for the speed6? Both ATP and FullRace DP are catless.

I would love to go EWG but will not be able to money-wise until late next year.

The WG cannot be ported on the BNR since it uses the k04 hotside, which is already maxed out.

This leaves me with the following choices:

GT2871
GTX2867
GTX3071

I would love to go GTX2867 but there is no 3" inlet that fits the speed6 -- before someone says HTP, it will not fit, I tried it before on the BNR, the coupler pushes the intake too far out toward the battery.

This leaves the GT2871 and GTX3071 on the table, both can be ported, I need to read more to decide which one. I think I read it somewhere here that they will still creep a bit even with porting?

I thought I have seen HTP work with customers regarding issues and will build on to fit?
Check with Katie and see what they can do?

Just cut the coupler to minimal needed length, so you can push HTP intake more towards to the BNR (I did the same, and there is almost 1" of left space between intake and battery holder).

you can EASILY get a 3" u-bent aluminum pipe and fab your own intake, TBH.

The most reliable solution for the track is Ewg. I would not get another internally gated turbo. I would look for a higher quality cat and have it flanged to bolt into the dp as far down as possible as a bandaid. The cat gets too hot and fails in the position cpe puts it.

Did another weekend of road racing November 23-24, this time clockwise in 40 degree rainy weather.

Had the AiM SOLO DL hooked up -- the device was logging GPS data but it did not work well logging the ECU data, full review here.

The car started misfiring occasionally after a couple sessions. Did only two sessions on Sunday morning and headed back home after lunch. On my way home it started to rain pretty bad, I did a quick attempt at a WOT pull in 3rd and holy shit the misfires were all over the place, had to let off at 5000 rpms. Pulled the plugs and this is what they look like, wtf? @atvfreek;

The outside of the spark plugs looks clean so this dirt must have come from the combustion chamber side? How do I clean the combustion chamber from dirt/grease? It looked like the car was misfiring more and more as the weekend was going by so this dirt must had been accumulating from somewhere and the process was rather fast. The spark plugs have only like 500 miles on them.
