This is going to be the Starship Enterprise command center for the 6. If I ever get time to fix the other shit that I constantly work on.
Wish VDO made a boost gauge that went to 30 psi. Fuckers all stop at 20 or so.

Code Monkey and ItsNox like this.

The plate is custom made and was like $50 IIRC. I have the file for the drawing that I made if you want it. Can't remember the vendor right now but it's from a well known company.
The digital read outs + sensors are about $65 total for each of the 4 from Auber instruments.
The other 2 gauges were like $30 each
So total about $350.

This what the Auber multimeter gauges look like lit up. This is on the 3 where I only have 2 for eng and trans oil temps. You can set up alarms on them and also connect a light and buzzer if you want.

ItsNox likes this.

Here is a graph and a summary table showing ECT's for four sessions, session 1 was earlish in the morning, session 4 in the afternoon, probably about 90* weather. You can see the ECT's got higher the warmer it was but even at the hottest, I never broke 220, the average for the last session was 207*.

Code:

I was looking at Cobalt Friction brake pads and they recommend running XR1's in front and XR4's in rear for "club racing and advanced hpde", linky. Since they have no rears for the ms6, the XR4 equivalent is Carbotech AX6, which is an autocross pad. When you look at Carbotech description here, they say that AX6 "is not recommended as a race compound in most applications." So I got XP20's for the front and will be running XP10's in rear for the time being. Previously, I wanted to run a more aggressive compound in the rear, but some google fu revealed some car crashes due to locked up rear brakes so fuck it.

Was trying to swap the pads yesterday and could not get off one lugnut, the fucker must have been cross-threaded or something. Drove to the shop, they took it off with an impact, took like a minute, and of course the extended stud is fucked as well. The last several wheel changes, I always had trouble with the front studs, the lug nuts were not going in and out smooth, so as a precaution I am having all 10 studs swapped for new ones. I am thinking about running these lugs at the track but am not sure if they can crack easily?

Also, got NT01's mounted and balanced today. Hope the RS3's will last the whole day August 2nd, and then I will run the NT's August 3rd.

Got the Carbotechs on today, the gold looks so good on red. The new lugnuts are half a pound lighter than the old ones.

Also got a replacement urethane for SURE RMM in 96 duro -- only $47!!!! When I bought the RMM like two years ago they only had 70 duro, one of the inserts is torn but this is no surprise. After some clean-up the mount looks brand new.

Finally had a chance to test the Fat Cat coilovers at the track. In short, they are fantastic, further ramblings start here. Going off of the AP logs, Sunday lap times were as follows:
Code:
2:06.62
2:04.98
2:03.93
2:04.00

2:03.16
2:07.41

2:03.17
2:03.80
2:05.57
The goal for now is to run consistent 2:02-2:03 laps, I am almost there, I am pretty sure anything over 2:05 above means I had to pass someone which slowed me down.

The first two sessions I was running on Exxon gas, which resulted in a shitload of KR and low main straight speeds -- I was maxing out at 122 mph on the 21 psi tune. After lunch I put 10 gal of HEB gas in and switched to the 17 psi tune, maxed out at 122 mph as well, but the KR was basically gone. It was hot as balls too, on Saturday I was going 131 mph on the main straight on the 17 psi tune. I really look forward to running the meth kit.

That was my first weekend driving on NT-01's and holy shit, they are fantastic tires, shitload upon shitload of grip. I was stressing the car so much the only thought I had was "Ok, what's gonna break next?"

The XP20 brake pads are fantastic too but they squeal like slaughtered pigs. They were making so much noise going into the second session I thought something was wrong with my brake system.

Also, only now do I wish the BNR had a better transient response, I guess re-spool time was more than enough for me in the past but the time has come to start looking into something with instant spool.

I've always wondered that about the BNR. No one races twisties enough to give it a thorough review. I feel the same way about the K04, haha. Anywho, I like the idea of Precision's 4828 CEA for the insta spool sort of turbo that's similar to BNR power. Or a 5128 if you want just a little more top end potential. [Of course EFR's, but they carry a hefty price tag.]

Also, the tune can help this dramatically. I have spent hours working on response issues because everything happens so quickly in autocross. The 6 is a completely different animal when it comes to tuning throttle response. But, we're still limited to this ecu...sadly, we can't add some features that would make it even better

edit: forged bottom ends make it a completely different ball game, also

I think that may be the plan. I do have a spare long block, just need to save some monies for a build. With the future of the Texas World Speedway uncertain, I also need to start saving money for a tow truck and trailer, fml.

That whole thing sucks with TWS, it has been going around on the spec miata forums for a bit now on people trying to save it.

Right now the track is taking reservations up to June 2015, after that, who knows.

New alignment. Bought a set of Nitto NT-01's too as the current ones will last one more weekend max.

FML, my front OEM rotors are gone, they lasted less than 1,500 miles, probably only about a 1,000 miles on the track. They looked good last weekend but I guess the new XP20 compound did them away. I am going back to slotted DBA's 4000. I doubt I will have enough time to do brake ducts before the next track day but they will definitely come now sooner rather than later.

The new NT-01's arrived and I will have them mounted and balanced this weekend. The current NT-01's should last another weekend but you never know.

Had a gusset welded to my CorkSport SSP, hopefully I will not bend the plate again.

Edit: Also need a slight fender pull in the rear, like 1/8 or maybe 1/4", as the Nittos are getting slightly chewed on the outside by the fender.

Last set of front DBA's lasted about a year, less than 6,000 miles so probably about 3,500 miles at the track? Now that I finally have the right suspension, more aggressive brake pads, stickier tires, and am still getting faster at the track I predict a shorter lifespan.

My carbotechs have worn my rear rotors WAY faster than I ever expected. Could be part of the problem.

OEM rotors? What Carbotechs are you running, AX6? I am on XP20 in front, XP10 in rear, will try Cobalts XR1 in front when it is time to change brake pads.

Centric blanks in the rear with Carbotech XP8's. I was running some unknown brand before this and the carbotechs ate through the rest of them pretty quickly (turned once but were still in spec when the ct's went on). So, I expect the pads to outlast the rotors in the rear, lol.

Aren't the centric blanks cheaper than good pads anyway?

Heck yeah. The Carbotech pads are way more expensive than other pads for the rear. I'm glad to see they wear well.

The Ron Davis racing radiator finally shipped so I will be able to install it this weekend.

Is the ambient temp sensor that sits on the radiator support used by anything else besides the a/c system? If not, I can yank it as of right now if I want to move the main harness out of the way I have to remove the front bumper to unplug the fucker.

I also finally ordered tires for the stock rims, went with Bridgestone Potenzas RE760, should have them mounted and balanced on Saturday. No more wasting NT-01's on the street.

Had the rear fenders rolled more and slightly pushed out as well, any tire rubbing should be eliminated now, will not know for sure until the next track weekend September 6-7.

Got some chicken wire today in preparation for the new radiator and started fucking around with fog lights. Drilled a couple holes in the diamond pattern to see what it takes and it is doable but will take a shitload of time to look good. Here is an alternative, what do you think guys, I would cut out the whole highlighted area and put chicken wire there (painted black for stealth look). The wire would be secured on top and bottom by 3-4 bolts with a washer on the inside, all painted black too on the outside. I need to run more wire for the sides to move the bolt location further toward the front, but I think in principle this design should work.

Edit: Last picture shows the improved version with wider sides.

On the driver side, this would provide more airflow to the Matt Damond power steering cooler.

For brake cooling, I want to run flanges in place of the fog lights, like in the attached pictures. The flanges are bolted in three places, this is all you can do on the MS6. Unlike the pictures, I will also run chicken wire in the flanges so that no rocks find their way into the cooling ducts.

I think it looks good man, go for it. I always though about cutting that shit inside the foglights as well. Can't wait to see the finished product.

The radiator just arrived, here's some pictures, will pop it in over the weekend, hopefully no fitment issues, etc.

@SneakyP86;

Edit: It took 67 days from placing the order to delivery.
