Default No heat in my 2008 spped 3

Hey guys, last night I was out to grab a few beers with my buddies and once i came back to my car and started driving I noticed that the heat wasn't working (after 30 minutes of driving). I had the heat cranked and there was only cold air coming out of the vents. I lowered the heat to about 24 degrees Celsius and after about 30 more minutes of driving the air coming out was slightly warmer but still nothing like it should be. I just bought the car a few days about and I'm just curious as to what it may be. Also, if this is the wrong section I apologize.

P.s. I tried searching around but i was unable to find and topics with similar issues

wouldn't the open thermostat throw a code? Also my temp gauge was reading normal the entire time.

Heater core clogged or air bound in certain areas? Blend door stuck to the cold position not allowing any hot air into the vents, just outside cold air? hope this helps. I just did some similar work to my wife's car.

I wouldn't think so... Since it is mechanical and the car is reaching a temp high enough to turn the cold start sensor off...

Definately check to make sure the heater core hasn't been bypassed first. Most likely thermostat stuck open tho. coolant full? whats your mileage?

Turns out that I had a coolant leak. I guess the dealership didn't notice when they were looking over the car but its still under warranty so I'm taking it in, in the morning.

Might have too! It's getting down to about 14°C during the nights which is about 57°F.

If you had a coolant leak so bad that the heater doesn't work....then you didn't have enough coolant to cool the engine.....
???

That's what made me notice. I was driving home from work and i saw the temp gauge rise up a little bit above normal and when I pulled over I noticed that there was no coolant. Luckily I noticed it before she overheated. Once I put the coolant in the heat started working again so I tracked down the leak in one of the hoses that goes to the radiator.

Also the leak wasn't that bad, just enough that the dealership didn't catch it and didn't bother filling the coolant.
