Default powder coat wheels over powder coat ?

I was over the discount tire website looking at different color wheels on a MGM. The
DRAG33 which I have comes in like 7 different colors. This style for our cars cost $540.00 for a set. I am thinking of changing the BRONZE and with a lighter color on the MGM . I went to this powder coater and saw their anodized silver powder coat color. Unless someone wants to give me $300.00 for my wheels I won't get this done. The guy said he can do all 4 for $300. I then asked if he strips the wheel completely and he stated { Powder coat is some really tough stuff } I will clean them and bead or sand blast them to dull the finish but it won't take the old color off. The wheels are perfect no scrapes at all. I then asked if the powder coat will adhere well and not chip off letting the other color show through, he said no!! Any comments are welcome , is this guy peeing on my head and telling me it's raining to save some prep time or is this common practice

Well I had the lower control arms on my Camaro powdercoated red over the black they came. 15,000 miles and counting and they still look good. And they are under the car.

depending on the quality of metal in the wheel you may damage the rims from heating them again. had a set of volks crack because they were powder coated twice. the heat changes the properties of the metal and caused them to become weaker.
