So where are the MS3s at mod-wise...? Have you guys been able to hurdle over the ECU tuning issues, mysterious knock, limited fuel system, turbo smoking issues, engine blowing, etc...?

Since I left the MS3 world and indulging in the S/C V8 world, I've lost touch with the developments of this platform. All I have to say is that who ever wants more than 350HP in an MS3 is crazy...just useless... I have now 500HP 480TQ in my Roush and its too much. No traction with 285 tires!!!! Anyway, I am super happy with my change, though every time I see a MS3, I miss its practicality...

Still the same!

QFT...I'm the same...the major reason why I have what I have and nothing more is that I can remove them easily when/if the engine pops...

Stop throwing salt on the wound!

So you picked up a GT500? What year? Color? What have you done to it?
I'm not going to deny it, the GT500 will hand me my ass, but in stock trim, I will leave you behind in corners/track...though on the straightaways I'm toast!!! LOL

I love the GT500...awesome platform!!

Damn guys, I was really hoping to hear differently...

So no one has revealed the secret of tuning the MZR engine...?

What about the big turbo guys with the built-up engines, have they done any better?
How have those built engines holding together?

Sorry, no video of the Roush autocrossing. But all I can tell you is that its a blast!!! More fun than autocrossing the MS3. The only thing thats really hard is throttle control. You just want to smash the throttle down and go, but you really have to ease into it. lol Oh and she handles sooo much nicer on the track than my old MS3.

jtspells 06-16-2009 07:45 PM

You know how exactly how a FR is going to act so it seems easier over all, hope to see some video soon.

AutoXRacer 06-16-2009 08:10 PM

I'll see what I can do... lol

JoshC23 06-16-2009 08:13 PM

What did you do to the Roush to get 500hp

bykeryder4life 06-16-2009 08:20 PM

everyone is kinda waiting right now. palerider and dcr should be having news sooner or later about wtf is holding us back and how it will be solved. everyone is at a standstill power-wise around here.

Nothing much really... 430HP/400TQ stock Roush trim, then added an intake (tube and cone filter with a shield), smaller pulley (6-7 PSI), and a new tune to adjust fuel and correct timing.

Mind you, this is 500HP at the flywheel...approx 435HP at the wheels.

I don't feel comfortable going higher than 500 on the stock block...though there are plenty of people that are pushing more. At this point, I'm really happy though...I have traction issues... lol Thats a sign to stop... LOL

I revise my statement. People are pioneering the PT and OL/CL transition tuning. Things are looking a bit positive right now in that regard. I've got a Cobb AP coming soon, and plan to spend a lot more time in the ATR section. Once we keep it safe at PT, people can probably go back to working on making big power at WOT. I'm only looking for a reliable 300HP daily driver though, but hopefully I can help contribute to those guys looking to make big power with what I learn in ATR.

Disaster girl will be coming out of my signature very soon (I hope).

gsrtype1 06-17-2009 07:08 AM

hey man glad to see you back here, 500p dang! is that at the wheels?

94jedi 06-17-2009 07:18 AM

AS Dale mentioned, the long awaited Cobb ATR was finally released back on 4/20 after a huge fiasco w/ Cobb's Gary Shehan.

We're all now just figuring out how these cars are really tuned and the more time passes, we'll figure out how to better avoid engine failures. There's a very dedicated group of guys in the Cobb section here. We'll figure it out before long.

I"m with ya on the 300hp daily driver. I would like the same thing. Right now, some folks have given up and moved on. Some folks, are staying stock and going with light mods for quick recovery back to stock incase shit hits the fan with their cars. I'm personally, keeping an eye out on development and reading here and there to see what knowledge I can pick up. It will be probably be at the end of the year I pick up an AP with the ATR and look into the PT issues these cars have. Right now, being in the military and stationed overseas and not being home most of the time driving my car makes it hard to do these things.

No, not at the wheels right now...approx 435-440 at the wheels.
