Spring Chicken So my 2008 MS3 has about 93,xxx on the odo. I am in a mental pickle right now as to where to go in terms of mods etc. I don't have any MS3 people in my social life that I can go to for advice. So fuck/thank you in advance for any opinions or thoughts. I have a stage 2 snow meth kit sitting in my garage with all of the parts ready to do a 2 gal. trunk mount setup - running 100% meth - with a bung welded into my cold pipe - and a solenoid. I am a little worried about blowing my engine up. I have pulled the IM and have taken a look at my valves -- not too good. I did an alright job cleaning them - following a guide I found on here. Using a HF sand blaster. I am going to try again using the rifle cleaning method because the result was unsatisfactory. I do not beat on my car by any stretch of the word. I perform oil changes and regular maintenance regularly. My timing chain seems fine. No smoking turbo. Everything is good to go. Other than the fact that I have never run an OCC (oops) I will be putting an SSP on this weekend. My question is this: Considering I have a 93,xxx tired ass motor - should I slap the meth on (with a tune from @Lex of course) or just leave her alone? Again, I really do not want to build the motor at this time. I am just trying to figure out when to stop with motor and avoid potential fail. An auxiliary fueling method seems to be pushing the envelope a bit. -Kevin |
Do it right, get a new motor and start from there. If funds allow. If not.... run it how you like and hope for the best. 116K here. |
Money and time do not allow. I stick with relatively simple drop in mods that I can start on Friday and finish by Sunday. Given that car is DD and I do not have a place to store the car in pieces over the course of the week. Sent from my space phone |
Work on suspension and start an engine fund. |
What about the meth kit sitting in my garage? Sent from my space phone |
I've always liked doing suspension mods on a dd. easy to swap and of it breaks or trashes out just as easy to put the Oem stuff back in, not to mention it makes the daily grind that much more fun. Decent coilovers, bushings, sway bars are always good mods IMO. Also, getting an alignment after the mods by someone that Actualy knows what they're doing instead of some random joker. |
I have no input on that, other than getting the car up to spec for more power. You going for power only? |
The car has all of the necessary supporting mods. Other than than the fact that the block ha a lot of miles on it. I will be doing RSB and suspension this winter. I have been pretty one dimensional with the modding. Sent from my space phone |
If you're tight on cash, leave it how it is. Mod when you have the cash to spare, knowing what could potentially happen(zzb) |
Alright - I figured it out. I am going to sell meth kit and get BBR S3. Run E85 full or mix haven't decided..pending more searching about Black Death. I decided against meth because unreliable secondary fuel source is unreliable. Sure if everything goes right it should be fine. But I would rather not roll the dice. The car has been good to me thus far...and zzb would be an undignified death. TL;DR selling meth kit because pussy - getting Beaner turbo - running E Sent from my space phone |
