Default Suchafegs ZZB Thread

So there I was, passin fools and disregarding bitches. Squeelin tires and sucking.....nevermind. Imagine yourself being WOT in the top of 3rd just being a full on badass(except you josurr ...lol I only kid), then doing a quick shift to 4th and suddenly hear BOOM! You look back in your rear view mirror and see a giant cloud of black smoke. Quickly scanning the dash you notice the oil light on, SHIT!
What's next? Well, there isn't much to do other than highfive your buddy who's with you and call out, "FUCKING SWEET".
Sadly this is a reality for me, so here's my progress from going stock block to building the motor. I have no technical skills, just a regular guy so if I can build this I'm sure anyone can if you're not a complete retard. I'll probably be in shout asking tons of retarded questions on removing shit so bare with me.

So a big shoutout to Nator AZ for taking me under their wing, also everyone in shout that helped out so far and will continue to help. However this overboosting issue wouldn't have happened if I bought Lex 's guardian angel. I'm planning on pulling the engine on Sat, however, I have no idea wtf to take off now, all this is new to me so if you have any helpful ideas, post them up!

I have one advice and that is to become very familiar with the FSM. That is the best resource for assembly/disassembly.

If I ever go BT, totally going stainless braid on the EBC lines.

Also, I'll race you now (I still no has fuel pressure, so it should be close).

As a side note, I'm kind of confused...Thought that boost controllers would fail to spring pressure not perma-close the WG...Or am I missing something?

If you pull the line on the WG actuator you close the WG. That means that now all the exhaust is going through the turbine causing boost to rise uncontrollably.

No need to go stainless braid on the lines. Use worm clamps and high heat hose and brace the lines if needed and keep them away from direct heat.

You can also get a GA and have the safety net just in case

Yeah, I popped a motor at the top of 4th. Hauling the fucking mail too.

Didn't ventilate the block, though.

Piece of metal from fuck knows where flew into cylinder 1 while i was running through the gears. Tore the spark plug to shreds and beat the hell out of the valves and piston head.

So yeah, I kind of know what it's like to blow during a wot pull. It blows.

Shit man at first I was like bad ass thats the way to go out. None of this PT pulling away from a stop sign at 20mph bs that gets most people. But then you got to think this likely could have been prevented with some sort of failsafe. Either way that sucks you went, but sounds like you are already planning to come back built stronger, so GL!

not too shabby, at least your block isnt as bad as mine is be careful with that turbo though, it may have sucked up metal shavings and may be fucked. make sure you clean it out very well before reinstalling and then just hope for the best

If when boosting, the wg solenoid is FORCING the gate closed, wouldn't having no actual wgdc applied to the gate mean no over boost?

The solenoid diverts pressure from the actuator to raise the boost. If you lose the pressure line you divert ALL the pressure from the actuator. It's like being at 100WGDC on a 3 port. Boost will spike pretty quickly since the actuator spring will shut the WG.

Alrighty, so a few minor updates. Received 6 puck clutch and flywheel, jrb 88 duro trilogy mounts, Lex's guardian angel, and send some parts to Pablo for my shortblock. This upcoming week I plan on taking the head to a machine shop and finally order the rest of the parts I need; vvt, gaskets, bolts, ect.

Along with some random frs at my community college.....strange

Peoria. I sent the block off to pablo, i still have to drop the head off to a machine shop and order some parts. It's going....slow. I'm really just trying to concentrate on school so what happens, happens.

Alrighty not that anyone cares but the block is in the process of being built, machine shop has my head and I ordered all the parts I can think of. Just gotta wait for everything to come in then it's finally building time....pretty stoked!
