Testing MS3 Camshafts, Volunteer Needed

I need a stock or as near to stock as possible mazdaspeed3 or 6 to test camshafts for me. prototypes in hand and local guy preferred. hit me up and lets talk.

SharkDiver 02-11-2009 07:36 AM

Im almost stock,Lets talk..... :)

superskaterxes 02-11-2009 09:26 AM

im stock too, and local!!! lol

Renzokuken 02-11-2009 09:36 AM

Damn! I wish you guys were closer. I really am close to stock since I parted out all my engine mods.

BreakTheStatic 02-11-2009 10:17 AM

Hey Ken, why stock cars? I think that the majority of people who would be buying cams would have lots of other mods (hence the need for cams that breathe better).

ATE BALLER 02-11-2009 11:08 AM

I have a stock turbo, mani, FP, and airbox. Is that enough? Really the only pwer mods I have are the tbe and ic. I can drive up there though.

TRU-BOOST 02-11-2009 07:07 PM

WTF !! i will pretend to be stock for some cams !!
who the hell would put cams on a stock car anyways ?
anyone getting into cams for a mod has already done all the basics. thats not a rookie bolt on !

MadOzodi 02-11-2009 10:07 PM

Hell, I was going to drive up to Glendale Heights this Sunday and spend a week up there.

manufacturer insists stock. they're "forum experienced" so to speak and know that people are going to want to see raw numbers as to what it will do for a stock car on its own merit. they don't even want an intake on the car.

MiSbrigo3 02-12-2009 12:37 AM

Like I said Ken, let me know what it entails. All i have is the Cobb intake right now, and the stock airbox is sitting in my garage. I'm an hour away from you tops....

MazdaMan13 02-12-2009 01:55 AM

I cant wait to see what this does to the high RPM section of the powerband. It would also be pretty sweet to hear a little 4 banger camming at a stoplight......... blub, blub, blub, BLUB, blub, blub, BLUB !!

our usual contact quit and the car they were going to test them on was totalled not too long ago, so it took a back seat it sounds like. i called them up to see if i could motivate some movement on it and they seemed really eager to push ahead now.

CaptainKRM 02-18-2009 01:30 PM

bump - please pm me if you are interested in a test spot for these and are local

TRU-BOOST 02-18-2009 01:50 PM

Bump for trying it on a well modded car.... Wink, wink !

CaptainKRM 02-18-2009 02:50 PM

must be stock, sorry

What about anna's car

fbpem1 02-21-2009 05:54 PM

thats cute when i inquired about this months ago i was told redrocketz that the testers have already been choosen and this was quite awhile ago, thanks a lot for lying to me...

also why does it have to be stock? a cam is a cam is a cam.

6-Speed-6 02-21-2009 06:12 PM

I'm still here. I am not sure if you want an MS6. But it would be 100% stock. 2007 with 16,xxx miles.

If you read the entire thread you would see the car that was supposed to be used was totalled.

phantom3 02-21-2009 11:59 PM

I'm stock. Not local, but bone stock.

06Speed6 02-22-2009 04:07 AM

Honestly almost anyone with major engine tear down experience is already going to have work done on their car. This is the hardest mod you can do on this car, bar none, and anyone who does it should know exactly what they are doing or have enough money set aside for a new engine. I see the logic behind them wanting a stock engine as a baseline, but no one puts cams on a stock car and anyone who is interested in cams is not going to be interested in stock numbers because the stock numbers are going to be the worst possible hp/tq numbers you can get.

mdogg 02-22-2009 10:02 AM

keep in mind that the "stock" requirement is likely a manufacturer request. Everyone (PG and the manufacturer included) realizes that very few, if any, stock cars will upgrade the cams.....

6-Speed-6 02-22-2009 10:28 AM

Well that is why I was hoping I could be a test subject. Once we dyno the car stock, we can get the cams in there and dyno the car again to show the improvements.

Once that is done, I would throw on a short ram intake, test pipe, and a BOV and run it again to see the difference. I am guessing that is the most common basic setup for most people. I also realize people at this point wouldn't be running cams, but it should show how the cams would help even the most basic of modifications.

In late spring, early summer, I have my other upgrades. My PG tubular manifold is getting coated as we speak, I already have the CP-E standback but it is not installed, I have a spare stock tubo but I haven't decided which ported stocker I want to go with, I am researching the different meth setups. and few other things.

I have worked for Performance Autowerks in the past and I know Dave, the owner, would be more than willing to help us out with whatever we need. pwerks is one of the few shops in Illinois with an AWD Mustang Dyno.

Let me know how I can help!

phillyb 02-22-2009 11:41 AM

^^^ don't you have ms6?

i'm hoping there is underlying sarcasm here.

i have no choice as to the requirements for a test car. the manufacturer is demanding it. you can't tell me that a forum (especially this one, no offense) would not absolutely eat alive the dyno charts of a fully decked car getting cams and then having us claim all the gains came from the cams alone. its like the scientific method folks, you test for one variable and eliminate all others for verifiable and actualized results. funny how 8th grade science class logic and practice can be applied. if the car isn't stock, its not going to be eligible. to be eligible is real simple - you pull all your bolt ons off and live near chicago. i don't see why this is a problem. arguing with me and complaining about it isn't going to change this. its set in stone, like it or not.

it does not matter if the car is a mazdaspeed6 or a mazdaspeed3. i am open to either. if there is someone out there who wants to play ball and help bring these to the community, i am all ears.
