Craftsman doesn't offer a lifetime warranty for their Torque wrenches :(

1 year

I use a Beam Style and Clicker. Beam on the wheels for a few reasons.

i have only used the click types before. but i am always nervous that it isn't going to work and i'll over tighten my bolts. with the other kind, you can see what the torque is as you go. the only other option for that would be a digital one and i can't drop the $200+ for one like that.

Stanley Proto > Craftsman
Snap-On is just as good/better but you will pay more as well
Most important is as soon as you get it before you use it, get it calibrated
I calibrate torque wrenches and i can't even tell you how many brand new torque wrenches come in to my shop that are way out of tolerance. It is very easy to calibrate also so don't get raped getting it done.
If you ever drop it get it calibrated again.

snap-on digital

i've heard people mention this before. how much is reasonable? how do you find someone to calibrate your torque wrench?

jax ms3gt 11-18-2010 05:39 AM

I am not sure in the civilian sector, maybe ask around some shops see where they send there stuff
i can ask around tho

jack_hammer 11-18-2010 06:33 AM

thanks for the offer, but i figured it out. i found a few places that will do it.

treyclash 11-18-2010 07:13 AM

click clak click 1/4 in drive autozone special

dwagner88 11-18-2010 07:11 PM

I use a 1/2 in drive wrench from northern's house brand. I bought it when I got the car a month ago. So far it's been great. Seems very well made considering I only paid 35 bucks for it. It's the clicking type.

theurgy 11-18-2010 08:43 PM

I use a clicker and it's a Mastercraft Maximum.

akias 11-19-2010 05:48 AM

Snap On. Digital for smaller torque specs say 50 ft lbs or less and a clicker for higher torque applications. But from what I've seen tech's have varying preferences and opinions.
