Default Accessport & Accesstuner Updates/Improvements - December 2015

Hey guys! As you've probably seen by now, we have a host of new updates available for the Mazdaspeed platform. You can find a quick run-down of the newest updates below. A full write-up on these updates can be found at the COBB Blog article here:

Accessport New Features
  • Windows 8.1+ Support for V2 Accessports
  • User Customizable Start-up Screens
  • Readiness Monitor Reader Support
  • Restore OTS Maps

Accessport Firmware Improvements

All Gen2 ECUs will now see flash times up to 35% faster than before. A minimum threshold of 2500 RPMs has been added to Launch Control / Flat Foot Shifting as some customers were experiencing driveability issues when those values were set at unnecessarily low values. Engine Auto On/Off Detection has also received updates to integrate RPM detection in order prevent power cycling while driving. Finally, all V3 Accessport datalogs will now include a header with the Accessport's firmware version, vehicle information, and map information.


Accesstuner Updates (1.9.1.0-11420)

Users are no longer required to use the "Beta Software" check-box in order to receive the newest features. All Beta features have been moved to the most recent Release software version.

  • DTC Descriptions
  • Updated Wideband Sensor Support
  • Corrected "Ign BAT vs ECT Comp.A" table axes

When will Windows 10 be supported/my AP is not recognized by my Windows 10 computer (I no longer have access to Windows 8.1 or lower)?

AP Manager and ATR is running fine on all 3 of my Windows 10 machines. Operator error.

it flipped up a security warning on my window 10 and give me an option to ignore which I did and it loaded fine

As others have mentioned, both AP Manager and Accesstuner are currently compatible with Windows 10. Are you getting an error when installing the software or simply not able to communicate with your AP? What firmware version is on the AP?

Same, ATR and APManager work on my home desktop with Win7 64 bit.

Time for the old uninstall, restart and re-install troubleshoot. If no go, break machine and get new one. If that doesn't work, sell car.

It's probably the fact that it's a work laptop and you don't have admin rights or something. Just buy a cheap laptop off ebay or something and use that for all your Cobb tuning-related stuff. I grabbed a T61 for $60 shipped recently...it even came with a copy of Windows 7 which I upgraded to Win10. I bought a model with a T7300 processor so I could run 64-bit and I've had no issues at all, even reflashed the ECU with it quite a few times already.

I have full admin rights on my work computers. Couldn't do my job without them.

I have a personal laptop... It's a Mac.

I can use ATR on my Windows box, just not AP Manager. So either I flash right from my laptop through ATR, or I copy the tune to my Mac and load it on to the AP from there. It's hokey, but it works.

Well that was fun. I went to flash my ECU with ATR today and it stopped mid flash and ATR told me that the AP was "not in the right state" or something like that - I couldn't communicate with it at all - not good. All options on the AP itself disappeared except "troubleshoot" and "uninstall". Ended up with a half baked tuned on my ECU, car was cutting out probably because my fueling tables are different between my 93 and mix tunes.

Limped it home, had to uninstall the AP because my laptop told me it went into "protected mode" and I had to uninstall. ATR prompted me to update, so I did. Loaded the map and reflashed using the AP itself. Now everything is fine. Hopefully it happened because my ATR was out of date or something because that wasn't a fun situation. I wonder if my USB cable is starting to go bad or something. Never had any problems like this before.

I had something similar happen recently. It appears that Cobb updated something, and didn't actually produce a bonified "release" with any annotations. ATR no longer has a "Beta" release version.

This is really fucking scary, and not at all acceptable behavior.

Customers should be notified in advance of potential updates, and prompted for approval before taking the plunge.

Maybe that's the problem. I've never checked the "beta" box myself...can't afford to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with no ability to change maps. If they're pushing through beta features, that could definitely be the issue. If this next version proves to be stable, maybe I'll just disable updates from here on out. I mean to be fair, I'm quite sure I've flashed my ECU with ATR over 250 times through multiple AP/ATR updates and this is the first time I've ever had a problem. But this was the first time I had flashed the ECU with that particular ATR version I believe (the one before I updated it today to the latest one).

The Beta version was required during the WOT shift stutter fix testing window. It worked perfectly until it disappeared and shit got weird.

Yeah been almost 2 weeks since I asked what was new in the latest atr version. Would be nice to know, especially those of us that tune ourselves.

Also my AP had been acting a bit weird also. Regardless of the On/Off settings, it will randomly be on sometimes when I come out to my car. I know, "don't leave it plugged in", but shouldn't be happening anyway.

Hmm. Havent find mind on. Only thing i notice is some times it take a sec or two to turn it self on when i start the car. And tbh i have left my ap on a few times over night and it didnt even have any trouble starting so i dont believe it pulls much power.

Ovb screen burn in could be a issue tho

This is happening to me too since the latest update. (2006 MS6 / AP3)
I'm not sure if it comes on every once in a while and then shuts itself back off and I just happen to be catching it occasionally when I go to get in the car, or if it's actually turning itself on and staying on.

Tried installing ATR tonight, with no luck. It tells me to connect my AP, so I connect it directly to the computer via the mini-USB that came with it. Tried it several times, but it just won't recognize the AP.

Oddly, the graphic that comes up when telling me to connect it shows the OBD cord being plugged into the bottom of the unit. But that makes no sense, since it would then be plugged into the car, not the computer.

Win7 Professional 32-bit.

This is happening to me as well. Probably 50% of the time when I return to my car, the AP is attempting to connect to the ECU. The previous version of the firmware worked much better in this regard. @Cobb Tuning; is it possible to revert back to previous versions of the AP firmware? This issue is really annoying.
