Cool No true off button for Traction Control

Beside screwing us with a foot parking brake and an automatic transmission, one of my other gripes is that we cannot turn off our traction control. It has a button and if you are under 25mph it will switch off until you reach 25mph. Then, Bingo it is back on!

Now maybe it is just me who loves to drive hard at times, but having the car lay down mid corner on a fast sweeper because the car either detects some slide or steering angle vs direction really chaps my ass..

Now to add to my thoughts of doing violent things to Mazda Engineers or that crap they install a real traction control off switch in of all things a Mazda 2.. WTF??

Okay I feel better now ..

You ok? That rant came out of nowhere!

I wonder if there's any tuning options to change that.

someone needs to swap an ms3 ecu into a cx7

cx7 would be a bad motherfucker with a 6 speed manual and no traction control

or you could simply install a switch between the wire that actually controls traction control at the ecu

You bought the wrong car for this....
Press and hold the dsc button, keep holding, start the car, keep holding, count to 20 and release. dsc should stay off. Or at least that's how it is on the speed3

No was browsing some auto review and saw one review the Mazda2 and the review exclaimed how nice and sporty it was of Mazda to put a Stability/traction control switch on it, but with barely 100hp it made no difference as he could not make the tires slide or break loose...

Why put one on a Mazda 2 and not the CX7?

Oh I have fun as I have terrorized and passed a number ot WRXs on our twisty roads round here and went to one of their meets in the CX7 and went on a group drive and was pissed off how badly they drove and braked.. LOL Chapped their asses that an Old guy in a Mini van was flashing lights to make them move over and let me by.. LOL

While I really like my car, it would be so much nicer with a stick, hand brake and to be able turn all the Nannyware crap off.. I know how to drive, I have been driving and racing for 38 years... It just gets in my way

Eh, wheelspin isn't really an issue in the CX7 either LOL Even with mods it just goes with minimal wheelspin.

Well since the Nannyware will not allow either full throttle or over 6psi boost in 1st or 2nd gears which I find frustrating. Combined with an auto transmission we are in no danger of doing burn out doughnuts in parking lots... I can only chirp the tires on my AWD. Not looking for burn outs anyway. Not expecting to burn down 15" wide slicks like I did in my GTO.. See picture below Just when I want full power I want full power not 50% power until 3rd gear etc...

I think it is when it detects a lateral slide that it really bugs me. Or that the wheel is cranked off center when cornering hard and if you hit a bump and you go a bit sideways and the engine ecu just kills all the power. Forces you to take a different line and speed on approachs to turns. Which I do not want to do as it is slower...

Mazda is supposed to be about sports cars and being a drivers car. Why then the stupid nannyware that cannot be turned off? It is not like this car is anything like the 455 SD Ram Air IV GTOs/Trans AMs or LT1 Z28 Camaros I learned to drive on..

It is that I can see this car being better with not much effort on Mazda's side. They have a hand brake/manual transmission version for EU so why not make it an option here? Then just install a true TCS off button or a mode button that has various levels of control. Then turn off the throttle and boost restrictions in the lower gears.. Now then tune the engine to not run so rich and the mileage would be better and this would be a really great car... I will not be holding my breath...

I thought I'd be put off by the foot brake, but I'm not.
Also, isn't there a reflash for the CX-7 where it gets rid of the boost cut off in the lower gears?

I am not sure if the flash helps with boost cut in lower gears. I now CP-E has one that will give me full throttle.

My problem with that is when I asked if it would pass smog here in CA with that flash installed they could not say.... Which is a must for me as I keep my cars longer than 5 years...

The problem with foot brakes is they are really only parking brakes versus emergency / parking / rear only brakes...
