Ok fine ill come clean. Ive been itching to know my compression as of late and i figured they would be decent for a year old car. Well went to harbor frieght and bought their kit. Came back. Tested. And got 145-135-150-150

At least they're all close to each other. Did you crank til the gauge stopped? I also wouldn't out a ton of faith in a hf gauge set

Yea it cranked it till that needle stopped and then kept cranking. Thats what was figured out on my end and told NJSPEED3 about the gauge. He says their fine but im doing one again at the pa install with Tyler. Sorry no keyword for you nishan.

John, was the car at operating temp and the oil up to temp when you did the test? You will get low results if the motor isn't fully warmed up.

dantes5823 sorry to go off topic (compression talk) but what intercooler piping kit are you using? And did you have to cut your crashbar for the tr8 core. Tried searching your thread, but couldn't find the answer.

His car is definitely capable of 11's. He trapped 117 with about 30hp less so id imagine its a 120-121 trap car. Im hoping to get us both into the 11's asap. My clutch is getting done tonight, then i have to get my wheels and spacers and Ill be ready

OK so. I had to swap some shit on my car and h0ckeyman came over to give a hand. Helped him with some stuff and decided lets try my compression tester on his car. He's about 4500 miles into his car. Never was fully bolted so he hasnt really made much power. Figured his car was a good candidate to see compression numbers. We came up with 150 flat across the board. So either my gauge sucks, both are motors are dieing, or 150 is the right number. His car is a 12' like mine.

So granted i do have a weak point in cyl 2, but it may not be as bad as me and NJSPEED3 thought. We still feel like the gauge might not be the best but i think we will see come Saturday when i use trf5000 gauge. If its the same then i guess 150 is it? atvfreek have you done one on your car? Or rfinkle2?

I would do yours again. Did you remember to disable the injectors when you checked it on yours?

Im doing plugs on mine tomorrow. I will swing to my work and grab my tester for curiosities sake. Lol.

that's pretty consistent across the bored, the 135 is a little low. I think the general rule of thumb is 10%~.

Ok so from this ive gathered 2 possible pieces of info...either Harbor Freight gauges suck big black cock, or the pus have lower compression(could be considering the gen1's seem more powerful and i know they usually get numbers of 160-180

If the HF gauge is off, it's off by a perfect number because I shit you not, from cyl 1 thourgh 4 that shit was DEAD on 150(on mine).

Spec is def 175 on both gens. But we tested a car here at my house and came up with 150 across the board one day and 175 another. As long as they are within 10% you are good to go. IMO
