So some things have changed

Some rear diffuser work, still in the early stages.

Hood vented radiator progress. Still a bunch of sheet metal work to do.

Custom exhaust manifold

Custom intake manifold stuff
Code Monkey likes this.

Never got posted up here. Went with 18X10.5" RPF1's with 1 +15 offset. I've got Nitto NT01s in 275/35 waiting to be installed.

I'm using some fiberglass Ebay flares, I don't recommend fiberglass flares since they dont bend very well.

I originally had it in between the rad and intercooler but it made the intercooler stick out past the bumper so I had to move it. Next thought was to put a fan behind it and vent it through the hood, that didn't fit either.

Just for kicks I stuck it in the headlight area and it actually fit really well. I'm getting a light from the wreckers to cut up.

Is there a reason the tubes are so long?
Are you bracing the turbo?

I did a bit of research and it led me to believe that longer runners are better for top end. I'm sure there's more to it than this but I figured I'd see what I could fit in the space I had available. This also fit well with my exhaust and dump tube placement.

The turbo is still pretty much stock placement so I plan on using the existing brace

Diffuser is about 25lb or so, I haven't actually weighed it.

But I've removed all the rear interior, carpets and insulation, front crashbar is also way lighter than OEM. Exhaust, heater core and rear crashbar are also coming out. I'm going to make aluminum under body bracing so that will also save weight.

At the end of the day I should still come out way ahead of what the car weighed stock.

Always cool to see custom shit. What's with the banjos on the valve cover?

Also, if making a custom manifold, why stick with the shitty stock flange? That's the perfect time to move to something that gives you better options.

And how are you running your hot side charge pipe?

They replaced the vent on the back of the valve cover as it didn't clear the manifold.

I have a BNR S3 currently am sticking with it probably until I get a built motor. Cutting off the flange really isn't a big deal for me at all if I decide to swap turbos.

The turbo is clocked and I'll be making an under the motor pipe.

Intercooler is back from welding. Now I can make crash bar mounts and really start getting some progress made on the charge piping.

Getting a new bumper to replace this disaster.

But I now realize I'm still going to need to trim the bottom out of it at the very least to get flow to my entire core. Undecided about trimming the top off the new bumper also. To do it right I really need to add some ducting so it's more than just a giant hole...

The infinite struggle

So I got some slick little brackets made up for my Intercooler. They also have slots that I'll use to mount braces for the splitter.

I've got most of the cold pipe all welded up, still need another bend up top once I get the intake manifold completed. I wish I could make it out of aluminum but I don't have the equipment to weld it.

What made you decide on such large piping?

It's only 2.5" on the hot side, cold side is 3". I copied Corksport, they claim that having a 3" cold side increases throttle response due to the larger air volume in front of the throttle body.

It makes sense, but no idea how effective it really is.
