If you get a Gen2 welcome to the forum but at 16 you shouldn't get anything abouve 160hp. Keep your Civic, work on brakes and suspension. Go to the track, do some auto-cross. Learn the limits of your car and what happend when you scew up....and you will, we all do but it will be somewhere safe.

You will have a blast and it wont cost a lot. When you are older get your self a faster car. Thrust me, you will learn while having fun. And if you hurt the car it wont be a $23,000 (us dollars) car.

yeah I was considering a wide range of cars based on cost vs power. The Genesis and Mustang Gt I eliminated for the fact that enough people are having issues with the manual trannys to sway me from buying one. The fact that the NHTSA has opened an investigation into the Mustang's MT-82 will hopefully force Ford to do something but its not worth the risk on a 30k+ car.

For sure, when I was car shopping I test drove the new v6 mustang. I was reading that one of the signs is grinding into 5th, low and behold the one I test drove didn't shift smooth at all and made a nice grind into 5th gear.

oh there seem to be more issues then there should...especially in the 2nd year. Issues with the grinding of the trannys, gear lockouts, not being able to shift into reverse. Also the fact that there is so much oil blowby with the new 5.0 and more then enough people are getting a ticking noise from the engine after a few thousand miles and a couple of oil changes that Ford says is normal...

im the complete opposite, i miss my boosted rsx everyday, shit made ungodly amount of power easily and was more funner to drive then the ms3, if it wasnt for my job/location/wife id of kept the rsx, i do like however the torque and creature comforts the ms3 offers and is a good enough DD.

On another note: my friend back home has a boosted ep3, when he first got it boosted it was a cheapo ebay kit and was good for 260whp tuned on megasquirt. He eventually saved money while he had fun with his set up and did it right with k24 swap, gt35r, kpro and is making 624 whp. Where ya at BT ms3's?

MS3 is a nice car, not hating on it or or defending Hondas, but K motors (aside from the a3) are the superior motor for boost and high HP #'s any rsx/civic/integra/ek/eg with a k and a snail will destroy any ms3 out there. simple power/weight. Let all you mazda lovers and ms3 fanboys begin hating and trying to troll me but its true no matter where you look. Its all just preference on what you wanna own and do with the car.

I'm a big fan of the K motor, but for every decently fast honda out there, there's 1k more that are slow as balls and suck dick.

Your buddy with the k24 swap is making good power, but he's needed an engine swap and a bunch of additional fab work. Probably cost him a good 15k to get it all done.

Point is, OP isn't going to be boosting a K24... He's going to be boosting one of the weakest motors that Honda has made in the last 20 years.
