I don't disagree, but lets be real... I'd rather have my ms3 than I would 95% of boosted Hondas.

I'm about to take on a side project to build an EG, so I have no hate for Hondas or the motors. Just saying that the majority of them suck balls, and it's not an Apples to Apples comparison.

I understand that the K20a3 is the weakest of the bunch, but you can't take away that in itself it's a very stout motor.

I currently own an 05 model and the car is great. I auto-x'd for a whole year with only and intake and tires and I was able to outperform plenty of other cars within my class and some above my class (some cars included an SRT-4, 8th gen Si, and a couple Miata's) within a year of learning my car.

This year after I felt the need to go faster I turbocharged it and swapped out the 5-speed for a 6 w/LSD and bumped up a class.

As of right now the Odometer is clocked at 109,xxx and the car is still driving great, but of course I am on top of the car and do my own maintenance (own my copy of the HELM INC manual).

The thing is for the price I paid for the car 2.5 years ago, it can't compare to the MS3 in terms of how far I can go with it for the same price I paid for my MS3. Sure torque is great in the MS3 but there's no point in having such an abundance of it with trying to whip around a corner. Of course to each his own since everyone else doesn't only auto-x the MS3.

If I were you I would just keep the car and save your cash and headache on a new car. Buy used if you can if you're really bent on getting rid of the EP3. Just remember our forum community over at ephatch is worlds away from the 8th gen civic fags. It's actually very similar to MSF but not as many assholes, lol.

If you bought the car for at or under 10k with decent mileage like 60k<, then keep the car and do a K24A1 swap and call it a day, you'll have MORE than enough torque and an AWESOME motor to boost if you decide to go that route. This motor is the motor Honda should have put in the EP3.

If you overpaid for the car and can get what you paid for it, then by all means sell it/trade it in.

Like someone mentioned before, keep the car, drive it, learn it, and have fun with it. When you're ready to move on, you'll know. Me personally I kept mine, lol. I can't rid of it, too much hard work and parts I got for basically a steal into it and the car just keeps begging me to push it everytime I take her out of the garage.

I've considered swapping to a k24a4 as they can be had for about $600ish dollars and they make good torque.

Actually, I'm anti import, only reason I have it is I sold my truck so I could be more financially stable, and the MS3, for me, was a no brainer compared to any other boosted import on the market and well reasonably priced. I've loved every minute owning this car and have no regrets with it at all. My friend owns a tuning/motoring shop and he mainly specializes in SS Cobalt's, but will build any car if the owner is willing to pay. He's built a few boosted Honda's, and yes I've gone for rides in them. Don't really impress me. That's MY opinion, not a "fanboy" comment. So stop being butthurt about it, it seems like you're the Honda fanboy in this thread.

I see the well build Hondas, clean looking Civic with a engine swap + turbo, no fart-can, nice wheels and lowered as the exterior mod. But I don't see them often. They exist, it's like the new beetle turbo, some builds nice ones, but it is known as a girls car. Would you want to be seen in a girls car....nope even if it may be a fast fun car while been modified.

So there, this is why you may see some people loosing faith in Honda and buying them selves a little Zoom-zoom.

My self, if I had money I would be driving a Boss 302 instead and having a second car to carry the family. But I needed one car that does it all and the MS3 does that, and I don't look like a 16 year old boy racer punk driving it. Thats my 2 cents.

I agree with this....some people asked me why I bought a new Mazda and I had to tell them that....well, Honda makes nothing that fits my daily needs and will satisfy my performance side. The problem with the new Beetle is that it's based on the Golf, it's supposed to be rear engine/rear drive. They would have sold a shit more if they made it like that. Imagine a 210hp rear drive Bug, sounds like fun. Why get the Beetle instead of the Golf, well it's for the looks. The flower holder doesn't help the car, should be an option. The 2012 Beetle looks a lot better, but it's too late, people's minds have been set.

Back to Honda's; just 1 hour ago, a young guy with a Civic non-SI ( I know it's not an SI because the gauges cluster's light is blue) came beside me. White 2010 body style, 4 door, fart-can, Giant wing out back, Glued-on hood scoop painted blue, blue stickers "Honda, V-tec, SI, Honda emblems, NOS" , windshield banner "honda". This is why I don't like Honda, it's not the cars, it's the people that drives them that drives me nuts.

As for the Domestics,
Ford: Focus ST, Mustang v-6 (305hp), Mustang 5.0l, Shelby, Taurus SHO
GM:Corvette, Camaro v-8, the v-6 is too heavy but still a fun car, later to be out Cruze SS, Regal GS (2012).
Dodge: Charger, Challenger.....no more low cost fun for them but still so muscle.

So under $23,000us, there's only the V-6 mustang, Cruze SS and later the ST.

regarding hondas: one day a few years back i was at Church Automotive getting my all-motor prelude tuned (189 whp/156 ft-lbs, nothing too exciting) hanging out. Shawn was tuning some kid's RSX-S with stock block, unknown turbo, and 11 pounds of boost. the guy was making 450 whp. He took it for a test drive and said he was breaking traction in 6th gear.

fwiw, i think the MS3 is more car than anything honda makes today. but as far as FWD sport-compacts go, the old hondas are still better cars than most of the shit being sold today. I can't say that I wouldn't own an ITR instead of my MS3 (if i didn't have to worry about it being instantly stolen). But owning a car is more complex than having double wishbone suspensions and 2630 lb curb weights.

A guy that was out this past weekend has an EP3 with a turbo k24. It's fully built and tuned on 12 or 14 psi (don't remember exactly). He hasn't dyno'd it, but I guess it was 310 whp at 6....so it's probably 400-450 now...pretty mean ass car.
