2010 MS3 reconstruction project 6 Attachment(s) Hello everyone, I've just subscribed to the forum to get your advice and wisdom! This is my first reconstruction project, and I've chosen the MS3 for my first attempt. So if someone of you got this kind of experience/knowledge, what are the things to be focused? I have already purchased most of the front parts however, I'd like to perform some first mods to this sweet ride, any suggestion will be very well received!. Thanks in advance! Ps. I've uploaded some pics so you can comment. |
Looks like you have some work ahead of you. If you can get it to a shop to see if the frame is tweaked, loops like it took most of the hit on the right side, but I could be wrong. Any engine bay pics? Do you know if it has any mods currently? |
2 Attachment(s) Thanks for the response, as far as I know is stock I've included some additional pics.:34: |
Ought to be an interesting project! Post lots of pics as you tear it apart and make the core frame & body repairs- Lots of folks will be curious about what you find, and then how you make the repairs. Good luck- hope she treats you well! Where are you located? Wondering if that 3 is know to any of our locals? |
Thanks for the support guys, of course, I'll be uploading pics about the repair process, I bought it in an auction in Dallas. One of the thing I'd like to improve to the car would be:
Should I consider something else to be included with the repair? tks! |

Exhaust won't do much for power until you get to like the 350 - 400 whp mark so consider that. Intake and TIP would be a good place to start. Also a RMM is a must cause the mounts on these cars are made of gummy bears. BOV again... absolutely useless unless yours leaks. You also might want to consider picking up an AP if you donate you can have access to the for sale section on the forum and pick one up used for a good deal. Welcome to the forums! |

if you haven't got these, then they should be around the first things to get HPFP, AP, and a RMM. |
4 Attachment(s) Hi guys! I'm giving you an update about the project. Well, I had to buy the front of the car, bumper, vents, air ducts, etc. I gotta mention, the last owner spent few some bucks in this beauty! I'm so happy because it came with: -Injen CAI -Enkei Wheels -High performance vented brake rotors Now what I have purchased to the car (besides the front parts): -Corksport BPV -Cobb AP -SD Exhaust -Downpipe OK, I'd like to know if I'm missing something? There is something I should do? Anything I should consider? Share your wisdom with me guys! Help me to build the ultimate machine! Not sure if the car came with upgraded fuel internals but that's a must if you want to add more power |
Don't even think about installing a downpipe before hpfp internals. Also, sell that silly bpv, exhaust, injen cai and buy yourself an sri and an intercooler upgrade. And I haven't heard you mention motor mounts. Your gunna need at least the rmm |
What is your plan for the car? Fun DD or racecar? I think it can be both. I agree with @robbspeed; even if you don't want much power, the stock RMM with rock the engine back and hit the firewall on aggressive launches. Also agree about getting a short intake instead of the cai. And somehow you will have to figure out if you have upgraded HPFP internals, probably worth pulling it apart to check. If you want more hp, I'm sure you can get lots of suggestions |
I forgot to mention rmm! I got that already, I was comparing the HPFP on the market, I'm trying to choose between Corksport and the Autotech, and seems to be the Corksport is better, let me know your thoughts. I'd like to know what's the Fuel pressure when the upgrade is installed just to know if is installed already? Or what are the parameters when the stock/OEM is installed. There is no definitive way to know if you have upgraded internals without pulling the pump and looking. Every car is different so to say your fuel pressure will be xxxx at WOT is not a sure way of knowing. But in case you don't know your fuel pressure should NOT fall below 1600 psi at WOT. It should be around 1700-1800 |
Thanks for the support guys, thanks for your support @robbspeed; Someone of you guys could help me to identify how a upgraded fuel pump looks like? I mean, should I look for the piston or a mark on it? I guess this is the best time to check it out. Thanks in advance! |
1 Attachment(s) Here are OE vs autotechs. |
Autotech is good for fuel pump internals. I use the James Barone Racing RMM, pretty good lots of vibrations in low RPMs but I think that's with any good RMM. |
Hello Guys! Giving you an update about my project, Following the advice from you, making my own research and, because I live in a country when rains a lot (3 inches flood are very common), I have decided to change my CAI for a SRI, besides, that I also install the Corksport HPFP internals, so, the performance configuration now is: AP BPV CBE DP HPFP RMM SRI TIP Now, I would like know the best map that matches my current setup, sonI can uploaded in my AP; your advice is always appreciated guys! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...50f91d4062.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...3ea9d7c6ac.jpg Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk |
Why a BPV isn't your stock one still good? |
You could use stage 2 but you should get an etune. |
Hello @sh4d0w, thanks for your comment The one I've installed is the Corksport's BPV, that had very good reviews on the Corksport's site. Im very entertained and excited with the project. |
With those mods I'd probably just get a full e-tune from one of the many fine tuners on this forum. :afro: |
I also had a Corksport BPV, they are very good. You should definitely look into a OTS tune for your mods. To name a few, Freektune has a OTS+ for $75 for a base nap and 1 revision and Stratified has a base map for about $50. sent from my Nexus 6P |
Perfect, that's something else! :17: So, for the mods I just mentioned, is better to go for a e-tune than a default map from the Cobb website. I'll keep you posted about the progress and some other pics, I hope to get the car ready this month. |

Hello Guys! The monster is alive! Check out the video in the link below, the only mod is pending is the OTS tune, but guys, I'm so excited with only to hear the Catback! I've included some pics of the wheels and the wheels painted, almost done! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...3f864037be.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...db75f576ec.jpg Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk |
Hi guys! Giving you an update, the car is almost done... Is a beast and very powerful! Waiting for my license plates. However in my first test drive, I noticed a problem with my gearbox, the problem is I cannot compress in the 2nd shift, when I'm driving with all shifts (1-6) no problem, but when I'm downshifting from 3rd to 2nd the gearbox returns to neutral, any clue? Looking for wisdom guys. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...aff0c5b9e1.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...2c0a51ce29.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...bad981392d.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...fa1e9db23d.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...7870052edf.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
