Meaning that you'll have to make changes for it to fit ? Sorry if I am an idiot for not understanding.

Since these type of body kits are "supposed" to fit the regular MZ3 and the MS3, before M/C would mean prior to 2014 since that's when the Mazda3 got redesigned.

Listen man, I didn't find any of this info on mazda247.com - mazda 247 Resources and Information. This website is for sale! , but they like these type of modifications and they will most likely steer you in the right direction.

Here on MSF we are focused on modifying the engine, suspension, so do you have plans to do so?

It's mazdas247.com

I have this grill and it took a few hours of body work to get straight and installed.

Yes I plan on building up to a cobb tuning stage 2 or 3. (Depending on finance)

Just thought I different grill would look nice.

What exactly had to be done to get it installed ? And how long did it take ?

First off do not go by Cobb stage 1,2,3,etc. Calling it stages makes everything boring and sound like you are working off of an instructional manual to upgrading a car. Make your own path and have fun doing it.

Second off, I cut the oem grill up to use its frame for mounting and rigidity. It does not line up perfect all the way around with random gaps here and there. I had to do tons of smoothing and pin hole filing with body filler. Also there were tons of bubbles in the fiberglass so I had to find those, DREMEL them out, fill will filler. None of it's hard, just tedious. I am very OCD so I spent more time than most but I definitely spent an hour or two for about a week and a half getting it just right.

I'm not going to build up stage by stage but by the end I will have everything that is in those stage packages. I've only ever heard good things about Cobb and they have a tunning shop close by.

Do you think a body shop would be able to do all that at a reasonable cost ? I would be afraid to do it myself.

You lost my interest at having Cobb tune a MazdaSpeed.

What's wrong with having cobb tune my car when I have all their parts and accessport ? This is my first car I will be doing modifications on so im a noob. Can you at least answer my question regarding the bumber mouth ?

jdmage_mx5 02-16-2015 01:33 PM

A body shop can easily fix the grill but I do not know how much it would cost. As far as tuning, definitely look into one of the etuners out there that know this platform well beyond some of the Cobb employed tuners. Aka Freektune, stratified, purple drank.

Okay I'll do some research into those. Thanks.

Additionally you should consider other vendors. Cobb really doesn't support the platform anymore beyond selling what they already have. Vendors like Corksport, JBR, MD, and a few others are still releasing parts and they're usually cheaper. Nothing wrong with Cobb thoughts far as quality goes.

A Quality E-Tuner will almost always net you more power/performance than a Cobb tune(especially if you plan on doing E85 if available which Cobb no longer does) and cost you A LOT LESS
