2010 w/tech key programming

Long story short, I lost my key fob. I have the spare, however, I do not want to be SOL if I lose this one. I am ordering a new key fob and key from the dealer. They want to charge 1 hour or $99 to program the key. Can I do this myself and avoid the labor charge?

I haven't lost a key for my Mazda, but in experience, they tie the key fobs to the ecu.
I think you can buy generic keys via eBay, but I suggest just get but a couple keys done at once, cuz the labor charge is fixed regardless the number of keys

If you have two programmed keys, you can program more on your own. But if you only have one key, the dealer has to do it.
