2011 mazdaspeed3 homelink mirror retrrofit I have purchased a 2011 Mazdaspeed3 and would like to retrofit a homelink mirror.I've looked on line for the parts but all the ones I have found say that they will not work with a car that has rain sensing wipers installed, which my car does. Is there any way around this? Does the installation have to be done by a Mazda dealership. TIA DG Fort Myers, Florida |
0000-8C-Z27 is the one you need for the rain sensing wipers. Make sure you pick up the installation kit for it as well 0000-8C-L31. Get it online if it costs more than 300 bucks at the stealership. No, you do not need to have Mazda do it, the A-pillar is somewhat a little finicky to get out but other than that just follow the instructions. |
I just did this mod, but I searched on Car-part.com for 2009+ Mazda 6 models and 3 models. The description should say with rain sensing mirror. I got mine from a 2010 Mazda 6 for $65. Installed it myself with the Install kit from the dealer for $25. Not bad for $90 when the dealer wants $300+ Here is one, that even shows a picture:2009 Mirror-Rear View Mazda 6 2009 - 2010 w/Rain Sensor Aut LA261 $65 Weber Bros Auto USA-PA(Lebanon) Request_Quote 1-800-222-2528 Request_Insurance_Quote Shipping should be like $12 You can buy it right on their website Weber Brothers Auto Here is a picture of the mirror http://www.weberbrothersauto.com/ima...al/LA261-9.jpg |
Thanks for the Weber site SilverSpecial! Do you know if the Rain sensor versions work on cars without rain sensing wipers if you just buy the specific install kit for the car it is getting put in? Ive already got Compass, Dim, and homelinks on the speed3. I would like to get one of these for my Mazda5 if they would work, but I wasnt sure if it would cause any issues since the Mazda 5 just has plain Jane window wipers (2006 sport) |
homelink retrofit Thank you all for your help. I will look for a used one and buy a new harness. My dealer wants $500 installed. Profanity deleted. DG |
Yeah, your Mazda 5 will work, any car really as long as it has the wedge mount on it. Just make sure if you buy it used to get the wiring harness and cover adapter that usually goes with it. Depending on which model you get, all it is ignition (+12v) to power the mirror when the car is on, ground (0), and constant (+12v) for homelink mirror. On mine when I installed it I chose to have the homelink tapped into my ignition wire so that it can only be pressed when the car is on accessory or on. |
The difference between the rain sense and non rain sense mount is the depth of the arm so it protrudes out of the rain sensor cover. Any will work it will just look funny with such a big arm! As for the install kit, the rain sensor package comes with a cover for the sensor that is not supplied in the regular version. I didn't even use it because my cover was fine. |
