2011 Pop out of gear
 

I took my 2011 ms3 to autocross last weekend, There was a corner that my car kept poping out of second gear. it is the only corner i would notice the abs kicking in, could that be why? is this common?

@grantmm took off the shifter weight to solve this issue...dunno if it's all that common however

Did your hand happen to be resting on the shifter when making that turn or were both hands on the wheel? I've had a similar instance when 4th gear popped out but I applied force and thought I had the clutch depressed. haha

are you still running the stock engine mounts?? sometime having soft mounts and autocross tends to shake the crap out of the engine, and it could throw the shifter out of gear with the twitchy turning and on/off of the accelerator pedal.

It is the stock shifter counter weight under the air box. Remove it and you wont even notice.

Also, the JBR short shifter made the problem worse for me, so I removed that as well.

Now I can autox without popping out of 2nd gear 2-3 times on every run.

And you should be ABSing more than once on 99% of autox courses !

The Cobb shifter weight is another option. Makes the shifter feel lighter and notchier and helps keep it in gear when really hustling. Cheap and easy to install too.

I had a second gear issue with it popping out but at the drags both with stock and the JBR Stage 2 shifter kit.

same thing happens to me. do you have a aftermarket shift knob? i had the jbr weight(no ssp) and knob. mine was popping out too. took the knob off on last run and it was golden. all that weight flings it out of 2nd under hard braking. :( sad bc i love the knob any other time
