2012 MS3 changes and prices.

Hi all

Just want to start of by saying I've been a long time creeper, first time poster. :D

Any who, I've been in the market for a new car and i was cross shopping the MS3 against the genesis coupe, (wrx is too much). Big fan of the genesis coupe looks...not a fan of everything else.

Any who, I've decided on the MS3 and I just wanted to put out a feeler for pricing and the differences between 11's and 12's. I looked at the other post and it seems like they changed the trim pieces from the red dots to silver or silver to black, changed the shift knob a little and messed with the gauges and i guess the new display has white littering vs the red. did i miss anything?

Also, what are prices looking like for these things? I know they are "new" but when i was shopping an '11 last month the lowest i got for a base MS3 was 22.5k + TTL...i dont see that being a particularly good deal..

thanks

SleeperHatch 09-10-2011 01:50 AM

I just found out that the dealer invoice for the 12 is $25,300 give or take. So honestly Id go in and tell them you will pay $500 over invoice and that's it oh and that's with tech package

I'm looking for a base MS3 but I would never pay a penny over invoice for a car. I'm looking at zag/Amex/truecar for my region (St. Louis) and they're giving me ~$25410 w/ tech, guaranteed pricing. I think with the resources out there paying at or below invoice should be attainable, whether its attainable this early in the model year...i dunno...anyone out there have a '12?

I was looking at 21-22k for a base, is this doable even though the car was "just released", its not like its a new gen for the Mazda3 little changes cant warrant markup's just because the car just got to dealer lots.

AZSPEED3 09-10-2011 02:00 AM

Welcome to the forum. Good luck on the MS3. When you get it, post up some pics.

adlpb 09-10-2011 05:57 AM

Right now dealers probably won't budge on the 12, but I got my 11 for almost little under $4K under invoice price before TTL. It's all in how much you can talk them down/piss them off.

G26 09-10-2011 06:35 AM

Got my 11 for about 3-4k under msrp before ttl.

The difference is meaningless, and the pricing is the same.

I learned that when I found some obscure website called mazdausa.com.

Elusivellama 09-10-2011 07:25 AM

Changes:

- blind spot monitoring system in tech pkg, deletion of 6 CD changer from pkg
- addition of CWP colour, deletion of Celestial Blue
- silver dash trim instead of chickenpox
- red/pinkish and white gauges instead of red and red
- head unit has black buttons instead of silver
- centre stack is now black
- silver ring around shifter housing
- leather wrapped parking brake
- shift knob doesn't have silver ring on top

In other words, CWP and BSM are the only changes you need to care about.

Hey there good choic on the ms3 i just bought a 2012 actually, black one i love it. The base model is around $23,500 i got it right at sticker price which was awsome so there wasnt any markup at all. Its nice i like the little tweaks they did to the 12 model.

Congrats, although you're one of the first people I ever hear that pays sticker price. Usually you talk the price down, as sticker prices imply pretty large profit margins for the dealers.

Right, thats how I see it. I think, "Well great, you have a '12...is it different from the 11? Whats that? It's not? Why the hell are you charging more?"

Maybe I just need to wait it out until these mazda salesmen realize they're trying to sell a manual transmission small econo car with sticker MPG that scares the bejesus out of everyone and not a toyota prius that everyone is flocking towards. then shop around again.

Weird, it's listed as standard in the spec sheet.

What I really want to know is where are these anal bum covers you speak of, and how much do they cost. My friend is doing a brief stint in county, and I am sending him a care package.

trust me, im looking for them too.

Eljoselo6 09-11-2011 10:21 PM

Honestly if you get a Speed 3 within $500 dollars from invoice it’s good. It’s a small car so there is barely any markup from the factory (probably $ 1,900). Anybody who got a supposed “4,000 off” is highly unlikely, unless the car was a demo or they had a trade in and the dealer “showed” them 4k off. Good luck with your purchase.

Exactly. These things just hit the lot, you aren't going to see much (if any) budging on the price. Shell games with trade ins don't count as a price reduction.

I can get a 2012 for 24600, or 24800 in white

no, thats a pretty terrible price. zag/amex/truecar shows 22,5xx for 12's. anything more would be wasting money

We got a '12 in and were doing the PDI and there are a couple changes from what I can remember from looking under my '10. There is a large, metal bracket that is under the resonator. It looks to be for rigidity. Also, there are large splash shields on the left and right sides. It looks like they are trying to cut down on wind noise.

omykaela 09-23-2011 02:53 PM

i just got my 2012 w/ tech last month. beside aesthetic changes on the inside, the only other new addition seems to be the blind spot monitoring system included w/ the tech package. sticker price is 27,010 but i just went with AAA discount

I got the same price also but that was due to being upside down on my trade in. Rather than mark down a 2012 MS3 they put 1.5k More into my trade.

Regardless i'm still very pleased with my purchase.

Email a dealer and tell them that you have S-plan, and you were wondering what the price is. It should be right around 22,000. That is basically dealer invoice + destination. So that is probably the lowest you will be able to get a 2012. 2011 should go for a bit under that

Very interesting. Do you suppose you could snap a couple pics for us next time you do a PDI on another? (you work at a dealership, I suppose?)

Well... they also got rid of the 6 CD changer in the tech package, and the 2010s had power driver's seat with 3 memory function (programmable to the key fob as well, so the seats adjust as you open the door).

I'd still trade the above for blind spot monitoring system any day...

Fatguy729 09-23-2011 08:56 PM

If you get an 11 they qualify for 0% financing... The 12's don't

Naww the six disc is still there. Actually I haven't really tried it, but everyone uses iPods now anyways lol it'd be kinda nice if I had power seats with mem function but don't really mind since I'm the only one driving my car

robry 09-24-2011 01:50 PM

prove it, mazdausa.com doesn't say anything about a 6 disc changer, just about a cd player.

They get so many incentives just for getting a car to a customer, that their profit margin means almost nothing. My family has paid below invoice for every car we've ever gotten, as have all the other people I know.

Yeah, but Invoice is usually 1000 over what the dealer pays (depending on car obviously)

So although you got the car under listed invoice, dealer may have made money. Also, dealers make most of their money on used cars and service, so if you get a great price on your new car, chances are they make up for it on your trade in. Incentives obviously help as well.

I got 11,500 for my 06 GTI with 70k miles, which is a pretty good trade in price. If i had try to sell it privately, I would have been asking $13,000, but they have it listed for $16,000. It will probably sell for $13,000-14,000, so even though they didn't make anything on my new car purchase, they will make $2,000 on my trade in.

It's standard w/tech package.

A dealer-installed option without tech pkg, for 2011 and 2012

$25,800 w/ tech.

Anyone confirm?

I think i got an awesome deal. paid 24850 OTD with Tech Package.

its a sweeeet ride

All you guys giving prices lower then dealer invoice, I am assuming you had a trade in, that they just got from sale price and your trade in value to make up the difference. Otherwise I see it as a slight impossibility. especially otd... there should have been like 2-3k in TTL. Please clarify if this is not the case.

Not the case. My previous car got stolen so I had no trade. I paid 26 OTD for a '11 w/tech with a sticker price of 28K with all the delivery/documentation fees.

xb2ms3 10-18-2011 03:37 PM

Sometimes people will get lower than invoice but the dealer will still make money. They're not stupid, they run a business. If they sell it lower than invoice, its for a number of reasons. Maybe they're close to a goal set by the manufacturer after which they receive a bonus for volume sales, there may be manufacturer incentives/rebates during that time, all kinds of shit you dont know about.

Its not as simple as MSRP-INVOICE= PROFIT.

analbumcover 10-25-2011 10:56 PM

Just picked up my silver speed3 today. Its a '12 base. I did 23k w/ finance charges included.

Note: It comes with the bose, the 2012 base. I looked at the sticker. checked the trunk, there's a subwoofer in the spare tire.

RJD23 10-25-2011 11:15 PM

i got mine for 26k but i would of gotten it for cheaper but i had upside down equity of 4k on my trade in. but the tech package is well worth it even tho the nav screen is small it works perfect and like it better than my garmin. so with negative equity it was 30k

First batch of the base 12s didnt come with Bose stereo. And since it wasn't listed on the sticker, Mazda said they aren't going to do anything about it for me.

So I'm SOL :(

You're not missing anything. The Bose isn't so great. Get a nice, small powered sub, and swap out the door speakers. I did this and it blows away the Bose.

2012 base for 22500, sticker was 24795.

Anybody who got a supposed “4,000 off” is highly unlikely, unless the car was a demo or they had a trade in and the dealer “showed” them 4k off. Good luck with your purchase.

I beg to differ, I just bought my 2012 base for 21,600++ and they gave me 17,000 for a 2011 impreza 2.5I base with 10k miles on it, look up the impreza on nada or kbb (gotta use 2010 cause 11's values aren't up yet) I personally think that was a rediculiously good deal, I'll see if I can scan the contract or digi picture it if no one believes me, bought from Groove Mazda in Centennial,CO, honestly best dealership experience I've ever had as well ( the only things added to the deal was $600 bucks for windsheild treatment and theft protection and $450ish for GAP coverage so they didn't even make much money on me on the back end)

Sqc049 10-30-2011 05:53 PM

For what it's worth, I just picked up a 2012 w/ Tech and paid 24,750 for it. Dealer gave me some rap about "R" designation on early production cars with better rebates. All I know is I was happy with the price I paid and I love the car!

BMON3YZOOMIN 10-30-2011 09:06 PM

2012 tech. paid 23900 w no trade in. blind spot monitering is the shyt!!

stockae92 10-31-2011 09:40 PM

How did you guys get great prices like that?

I went to th dealer and the lowest is $24600 + tax and fees for '12 + tech ... I thought better deal can be had than that

I also had a couple dealers talking to me about "R" versions and non R versions and that the non-R version has more in it's tech package but also has less rebates and a higher price. The dealer who has offered me the best price says the car he has is an R version but that it has all of the items listed on Mazda's site in the tech package.

Anyone know what this is all about?

nobrakez 11-02-2011 03:41 PM

Below "invoice" prices can be had because of backend factory to dealer incentives. "Invoice price" is basically BS anymore anyways. Back in '07 I picked up my WRX with a couple of dealer options for $22k no trade in and the dealer had to have it trucked down at their expense. They admitted(after talking for a while) there were backend incentives that made it worth their while.

My car has everything the tech pack is supposed to have in it. My window sticker had an R in parenthesizes under the model name. I believe there is some truth to it.

Then I wonder what the R means or designates, if anything?

Here is a picture I just took of my window sticker:
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...9/IMAG0263.jpg

My sales guy told me that certain early production cars for the model year were given an "R" designation by Mazda, meaning they had additional rebates in place. He explained that they did it as a way to jump start sales for the model year. IDK:shrug:

genrec 11-02-2011 08:42 PM

I bought my 2012 3 weeks ago..just looked at the window sticker i kept..no R on mine.

R version mean RACE CAR! :D

hcbr929rr2 11-03-2011 08:11 AM

It has to do with additional rebates from the factory, alot of manufacturers will do this when they see a dip in a sales trend or compete with certain other cars in various markets, that "R" designation will not be available across the entire US, chances are its only in select areas due to their sales demographics

MazdaSpeedThree 11-29-2011 05:19 PM

Yes...2012 "R" coded is earlier production related to parts shortage during tsunami and is cheaper because dealer got more incentive.
The current 2012 production "non-R" is more expensive.
I shop around the best I could get was $23k +TTL for the base.
I could get the "R" model for $21.3k + TTL but it is out of state and is not the color I want.

Noodlesincup 11-29-2011 08:32 PM

I got my 12 Cwp speed 3 with tech package for $24,000 with the S-plan and returning customer discount ( My Gf bought a Mazda 2)

My base 2012 came with Bose and it was listed on the sticker. I think the 2012s come standard with the Bose system. The sales guy even showed me the sub in the spare tire. It's not that great of a system anyway. Bose lacks bass and I like bass so...

It was the same with my RX-8, the Bose was all mids and highs. I preferred the pioneer system in my old Scion with the factory 100w sub...seven speakers 260w total but a hell of a lot more bump than the Bose systems. You should hear the sound system in the new Velosters, fantastic but the car is slow as hell.

Oh and I paid $23.3 + ttl.

Enough people have said it, but I'll agree with everyone... just got mine and the dealer gave me an additional $1000 off a car with an R due to rebates. I got it for $21,950 and it has the autodimming mirror with the homelink and compass, which the non-R car did not have. The early ones do not have Bose and that is probably because they ran out of parts during the tsunami and didn't want to stop production. Mercedes had issues getting stereos too at that time and were selling cars without stereos and having the owners come back for the dealer to install when available.

Smurfzilla 01-08-2012 01:11 PM

I have an "R" car w/ tech and mine has Bose.

I would say mine qualifies as early considering I took receipt 2nd week in September.

Yeah... if it has the R it is early... mine doesn't have the Tech package though. That does kind of blow my theory on why the radio differnce though. Unless they intentionally saved their inventory for tech cars and cheaped out on the others. I don't really care either way, I am plenty happy with the stereo in the car. I'm just happy I got and extra $1k off the price... it's a killer deal really.

Teethkikr 01-09-2012 01:55 PM

We saw a non-tech car come through with a bose system

First post, just thought I'd drop in and share my purchase.

2012 black base ms3 for an upward $25k OTD with extended warranty (6 yr/100k/$0). San Gabriel Valley, CA
Sticker price is $24,795, as others have previously mentioned.

It did come with the Bose system but I don't find anything "WOW" about it.

Croxley611 01-17-2012 02:26 PM

Croxley611 01-17-2012 02:49 PM

Lol I would take you up on that offer but I'm on my way to the dealership to get it as I speak. Couldn't beat the interest rate .. 0.9%

Smurfzilla 01-17-2012 05:59 PM

0.9% interest on anal rape is still anal rape.

Grats on the new car though. Donate, post pics of car and nudes of your girlfriend, wife, mom etc.

I'd pay $13 not to have to drink Busch. Like one of the worst beers on the planet LOL.

Onelovesoccer 01-18-2012 09:58 AM

I'd drink Natty and Keystone Light over Busch any day. I'd probably drink Busch over the Beast though...

PBR is my go-to cheap ass beer.
