I have seen many gen2s around my area (northwest suburbs of Chicago), that look badass. (blacked out, blue one with black wheels) so ya i guess you genPUers arent so bad =p

the faster 1/4 must be from the slightly taller gears.

ps. I plan to donate one of these days when I stop getting raped by bills.
pps. will work for mods

Yeah we don't suck too much. lol I love the interior on the Gen1's, wish they would have continued that into the next Gen. Yes longer gears help in the 1/4 mile but 0-60 you guys win because of a electronic delay in power delivery thru 1-3. Either way Gen 1or Gen 2 = win.

greatdane68 04-14-2012 01:08 PM

I have no complaints about my Gen2 (I hate calling it a genpu, because I think that it looks good). Only complaint that I have is that I want to keep modding it, and I keep running out of money. Life sucks.

Paid sub-24K out the door for a black MS3 with tech package in Atlanta. Got a very fair trade in offer and 1.9% 60 months as well. Wanted a base car but none available. The tech pkg is proving very useful...first car with bluetooth and I love it! Navi is nearly useless, but I like the screen for computer info and as a Sirius display.

Had a 2010 GTI and this car compares favorably. A bit more raw and certainly faster than the GTI. Love it!

Bull S**T where in atlanta I am looking at a couple of dealers now for a non-tech and best I get so far is 23k otd from ivory mazda. I am also in touch with roswell, rick case, and jim ellis. I need some tips as I want a non-tech pearl for max 22k otd.

Look for an "R" stickered car if there are any left.

For some reason they have an extra charge for pearl white, or at least they did when I was shopping for mine last summer.

Keko 04-16-2012 10:48 PM

Yeah, Pearl White is an additional charge, it's $200. Doesn't matter what model the car is, if it's CWP it's +$200, dunno why.

Kellerspeed3 04-16-2012 10:58 PM

I've seen a few and it's worth it as I'm sure you already know.

Keko 04-16-2012 11:01 PM

I'm sure it is worth it. I actually got the white for free because the whole time I was haggling for price the guy that approves the deals apparently thought I wanted a red genpu. So the final quote didn't reflect a white one but they had to honor their offer:smileysex5:

How is that besides blindfolds on all the passengers?

Some early 2012s came with special rebates from the factory that were not advertised. I think it had to do with lack of full 2012 model features or something. E.g. some cars not coming with Bose when it came standard for 2012 etc. On the sticker there is an "R" that denotes one of these cars.

If you want to know more do a search as this has been mentioned before here in the forums...in fact I think it might be discussed earlier in this thread.

Without an "R" car I doubt you will be able to negotiate $22K OTD considering the base 2012s invoice for $23.6K...how's the dealer going to make any money off the sale? In fact your current $23K OTD offer might actually be an "R" car.

Happy hunting.

Similar to how I got my window tint for free. The dealer and I spent hours working out a deal on a car that they didn't have in stock. After we were done, they found one at another dealer and didn't find out until they got there that the windows had already been tinted and the lock lugnuts installed, and the MS oil cap (don't know if that last one's standard or not, but there's a regular oil cap in my glove box so I assume it was an extra) that were not factored into my price and they couldn't charge me for after the fact because we had already signed the paperwork and that bitch was MINE. Just glad I didn't get a "bonus" chrome fuel door, those things are so tacky. The window tint was a nice surprise though.

Ah, THAT'S what that thing is. When I got in my new ms3 I saw that and didn't even open it (came in plastic)... gave no fucks. I obviously didn't need it at the time so I threw it in the dash and it's still sitting there.

pretty sure the mazdaspeed oil cap is standard? its pretty nice.

And while we're at it Gen WON > Gen PU.

get a used gen 1, much better interior, exterior is subjective i guess (smiley face ftl though), but the interior's on genpu is horrendous, it's watered down and generic. what's with that heinous red pattern anyway? IMO (sorry GenPu lovers)

Isn't it sooo like a genone owner to argue the finer points of cars? Like their interior... lol Fail.

Yep, same for me, it's sitting in the bag in my glove box to this day. I agree the MS one is pretty cool though.

I don't care about the dealer making money. I just need the best price.

LOL, why the fuck would a dealer sell a car like this at a loss? If they don't make money from the deal they're not going to do it...they're a business not a charity.

If they sell you the car below cost they're going to try to make up for it in other ways like on a trade in or interest rate bump.

Your attitude is kind of why America is going to shit...demanding Walmart pricing on everything while sending our jobs overseas. Don't get me wrong, I'm not supporting getting ripped off which plenty of dealers do, but businesses need to make money to STAY in business and employ people like you and me.

Congrats on the new car man. Did you get the base model or with tech package ?

Let me ask you guys this, Would you buy a brand new speed3 with 82 miles on it ? Cuz I bought the silver ones and when i got home, the odometer was showing 102 miles on it while the paperwork that i signed states 5 miles, and i live like 22 miles away from the dealer.

IMO. we're talking about subjective opinions here. I sat in the gen2 at the auto show and was disappointed in what mazda had done with the interior. Looks are subjective, but hey that's why there's gen1 lovers and gen 2 lovers. Gen 1 hates gen 2 bc of looks, gen 2 hates gen 1 for looking to bland (ive heard we look like toyota matrixs? i dont see it...)

whatever though, BOTH gen 1 and gen 2 are great performance bargains. cant argue that.

Onelovesoccer 04-18-2012 07:22 PM

i'd take the genwon seats, that's for damn sure. i like them a lot. or i at least give genpus the stitching of "mazdaspeed".

Wow you sound real mature...tried to give you friendly advice, which you asked for, and this is your reply? Eat a dick faggot? You're pathetic.

BTW, noticed you don't list your Bimmer any more so I wonder how the dealer made their money? Or maybe you ate a dick to get that price?? Pics or it didn't happen.

You got screwed too, chicken and the eggs the bank got! lol I got screwed too, I paid 24,500 for Mazda certified used 2010 with 6500 miles but after extended warranty, paint, body, and dent protection I wrote a check for 30,000 and change. Then I read 2012 with 6 miles on them going for less than the 24,500 I paid just for the car, ouch! Don't regret the purchase but man.

Warranty till 100,000 thru Mazda, that pbd is good till 70,000, gotten a couple of oil changes in there, yeah but I took in the shorts on that one. After the test drive didn't matter, I wanted it, he saw the "sold" sign on my forehead when I brought the car back. He had me at hello.

Lol, yeah I got the 100k extended too. And I fully understand the sold on the test drive. I knew I wanted this car the moment I pulled out of the driveway on the test drive.
