2013 CWP Speed3 or 2008 Evo X? 2013 Mazda Mazda3 Touring Countryside, Illinois | CJ Wilson Mazda 2008 Used Mitsubishi Lancer 4dr Sdn Man Evolution GSR at Exotic Motors Serving Rolling Meadows, IL, IID 10363272 As the title says, which one would you pick? Me and my brother are having a dilemma which one to choose. This is going to be his first car, in his price range. We're going to both dealership tomorrow to check them out. I'm more on the speed3 side, simply because I drive a speed3 and I ate an Evo once. And he's leaning towards Evo. Any inputs (negative or positive) are welcome! Thanks! |
Evo. |
Depends what he's looking for in a car.. At a glance, some may think they're similar because they're racer boy type of cars, but they're very different. Is he going to mod the crap out of it? If so, the warranty of the new car is not much good. I'd personally go for the speed just because its newer and you know most evos out there were beat on more than Rihanna by Chris Brown. |
Wow, I never have seen a newer EVO's interior. Looks terrible. I would still take it though because fun. |

Speed3 brand new car same range. Even though I always wanted an Evo. But then again if I was your bro I wouldn't want to drive the same car as you lol |
Looks to me like the evo's been modded and taken back to stock. Judging from the AMS sticker, shift knob, wheels and hastily placed UICP clamps. I'd be weary of buying a used evo, specially from a dealer which you will never know who the driver was. People who buy these cars usually have one thing in mind, and it's not getting groceries. I would check if the clutch is still stock. Also, check your brother's insurance rates on both cars before you buy. The evo is one of the most expensive cars to insure in the country when you're under 25. |

It depends on what he wants out of it, will it be a DD? If so the MS3, hands down, it's more comfortable, better mileage, etc etc If he wants to get REALLY serious about racing/modding and doesn't care about mileage the Evo is the way to go. |

@Trey-Z; Hoy, pare' tell him to get a speed! |
I wouldn't pick up a used 08 unless you got money to fix it. take the new car with a warranty. |

Another idea :P Why not go for a 04-07 Volvo S60R? 300hp 300ft lbs of torque. Adjustable suspension etc... I just came to mazda from an R. Can't beat the performance for the value haha. You can pick one up for around 10k |

That car is averaging 1 owner per 2 oil changes, and having been to auction twice it tells me it was probably younger buyers that couldn't afford to fix it when they broke it. My AWD DSM was an absolute money pit - but the warranty saved my bacon over and over. I wouldn't do it again. But.. telling a younger enthusiastic buyer about these kinds of problems is usually as productive as talking to a wall. Once the infatuation sets in, it's over. |
1 Attachment(s) Attachment 120975 I just got my evo and pretty happy with it and insurance wise it actually went down how idk lol but as for used evo i agree with most, it does looks like its been modded... Be very careful.. |
