I thought they weren't making evos anymore . I sworn I read a article that Mitsubishi were gonna discontinued on the evolution lancer due to focusing on more practical economy cars.??

That's what they said about the '13 evo, that it was gonna be an electric hybrid. The same was said about the '14. Now they're saying its a 500bhp diesel electric in '15. I say BS. But then again, they've been making the X for 6 years now, it's bound to be replaced.

2008 with 5 previous owners and 54000 unknown miles vs Brand New Speed. Seems obvious. I wouldn't buy an evo or sti unless it were new. But then again I would never buy them since I could get a new Mustang GT for the same price, but that's personal preference.

Also make sure he knows the speed 6 is significantly lighter than an evo x and has a much nicer interior.

OP is considering a GSR.
MR is 5 pounds heavier than a speed6, nowhere near "considerably" lighter. MR transmission is useless anyway.

The interior of a genpu is nicer than an X. A speed6? Debatable. The recaro seats are a plus.

Also, just because both cars are AWD doesn't mean they perform the same. The evo has full time AWD with AYC. It's not a FWD car with traction in the rear when the front wheels slip. They have been making evos for 21 years for a reason.

2013 ms3, I had a very smiliar scenario, peace of mind is what I went with. Every one and their mother has an evo and you always take the risk that the evo was gang rapped! Ms3 also has a much nicer interior and daily driver features.

All those owners. Buying from a dealership and not knowing the owners could be trouble. If ya can get an extended warranty for nothing I say go for it but even then I prob still go for the MS3

Go Ms3 over that X. I have an X and for DD/light modding duties the Ms3 is just better. If you want race car go X...or more race car go 8/9.

Alot of people saying Mustang Gt over Evo...but the weather isnt always nice and sunny everywhere all the time. Mustang Gt is a sports car...2 door, tiny backseat, makes power very easy. Evo is a rallycar...4 door, useful backseat, makes power but not as easy (still much easier than most all 4cyl turbos). If you can only pick 1 car for year around use...the Evo is the no brainer most of the time between the 2.

Update:

So, we both test drove both cars today. And the winner is.....of course the New CWP MS3! Mixed feelings for me, coz he got the color that I wanted for my MS3! And we have the same car!! FTW! Anyways, the Evo was a blast to drive. But for my bro..he wasn't impressed at all. He said it was heavier than my MS3 (coz AWD). He thinks my MS3 is quicker! He's on the safe side. He wants everything new. He don't plan to mod it any sooner. I was like it's not gonna happen. He's a total noob! For sure, i'm going to force him to sign up in here and take time to read a lot. Thanks everybody for the input. It helped a lot. You guys rock!

Stock evos don't really feel that fast or much of a pull because of drivetrain lost. Stock speed 3 pulls harder.

they don't feel fast cause you have a tq 2.3L in the mazda vs a 2.0 in the mitsu. Plus the mazda has a much smaller turbo as well so the entire combination makes for a resoponsive quick feeling car.

I was in the same situation last week.. New white speed or 2010 evo gsr with 14k miles but the evo had a red turbo upgrade and cams fully bolted with every bolt on and twin disc clutch but not knowing who tuned it and out of warranty scares me.. Who knows how the car was treated and maintained..yeah 14k miles but the little car lot wanted 27k and it was a base gsr with no hid lights or navi so the speed was a better deal.. Got a new speed with window tint for 25086 with tech pack.. Clearly happy I have a new car.. The bad is I put money down but car won't be here till next week.. They have to locate and dealer trade the white one.. Dealer also said there done making speeds and once they sell out there not getting anymore in

Thats a great choice, a 2008 evoX with 5 owners was really a risky deal. Since it is your brothers first car, let him drive it stock for at least a year (no engine mods) so that he gets used to the car, its a lot for a first car IMO. Maybe do some suspension mods and other stuff in the meantime? How about joining your local SCCA for a few autoX? Also, it just sucks to loose the warranty you just paid for... And you never know, you might need it- there's always a chance for an engine/drivetrain component to be defective from the factory.

your really getting 15, wow that sucks, my friend was getting 22avg out of his 5.0.

I dbout youll see 28 out of the speed, i average 26 with 80% highway, although I cant keep my foot out of it...well ever.

Yup. If you want fun car with teh fazt, and better mileage and reliable car..speed3 is the way to go. He got the Touring model..no tech package. We'll pick up the car later after work. I'll post some pics later.

Well, his no. 1 goal is to be faster than me..lol I'll guide him through the process. If he joined MSF,,,for sure his warranty is already fucked! lol I'll try to check that SCCA here.

RWD cars are fine in the snow as long as you know how to drive. Added weight and decent tires go a long was aswell. Up until 2yrs ago my wife was DD'ing a 2000 Camaro. I've DD'ed a number of RWD vehicle in the snow.

I get about 15-16mpg cause I live next to work and never really get on the hwy but it also matters about what gears you have.. Stock 3:31 are great for gas and 3:55 or a good mix between and 3:73 are more for racing and 4:10 with eat you alive in gas on the hwy.. Your at 4k rpm at 70 in the hwy lol... I have 3:73 so its mixed and I can get 19 on the hwy but I'm never on the hwy.. It sucks down gas going from stop light to stop light.. Always shifting.. I also have long tube headers and full exhaust with a cam tune so it sucks gas to get that awesome lope idle

he has the "redneck package", so the only option on the car is 3.73s lol. But hes not tuned or bolted.

So, got a little issue here... Basically, since this is my bro's first car and his first big loan..the bank did not approve the loan in his name alone. I can't co-sign him coz I just got my car this year also. My sister is willing to do it for him, but they have the same situation credit wise, lack of credit history. We're still waiting to get approved with $500 down payment. The last time I checked his credit score was 680, and I think it's the same with my sister. What to do? Are there any Salesperson over here to help? Thanks!

In my case, I was at the same situation that time, but I had credit history and I got all the incentives too.

Yeah credit score has little effect when you have no credit history.

How about your parents?

Also, you can have more than one car on your credit. I had a mortgage and my evo when I co signed my fiancées car.

My mom's credit is messed up.. my dad is not even here in the US, so, negative for my parents. I'll try to co-sign with him. But we're still waiting if my sister to get approved. They'll let us know tomorrow.
