Got an offer I'm having a really hard time refusing.. base model, black 2013 Mustang GT for 29K. Payments work out to be about the same as I currently have.

Should I jump on it?

Well i took my mom to test drive a 5.0 Earlier today, and im guessing they expect you to haggle because every single GT on the lot was over $30k. However with the introduction of the '13 Ford offered many new features and thusly the base price went up ~$1200. That being said the 27k that used to be a base model is now 29k, so really its about right since you likely will be able to talk them down a bit.

Personally I'm thinking yes. I know no track package or brembos, but once I part out I'm half way to a procharger kit. Procharged 5.0 would be worlds faster than my MS3.

I'm still undecided. I'm gonna go back and talk with him again after work and see how much more the track package would cost. At 29K out the door it's already well below sticker price and a hell of a deal.

I wouldn't buy a mustang, but I built one that I liked on the site and it had everything I wanted for 32k. Those things are crazy cheap for the power and not nearly as bad on gas you'd expect. Well.. depending how you drive.

Did you look at the Camaro 1SS? Even if you think they are ugly, I'd still be test driving one just for the heck of it if I was in the market for a mustang.

Assholes are saying my car is only worth $18k. KBB has it listed for $21k trade in value. And that doesn't even include my mod list!

Anyone interested in my car? I'll let it go for $22k and that includes all the mods. It's in mint condition. Not a ding or scratch, only 18000 miles.

I'd do it.

Even without the Brembos it is still a way more fun to drive/mod then a Speed. I've driven five of them. If the lack of Brembos gets you they or many aftermarket ones can be added. Only issue I have is the POS MT82 tranny they use. I know a few people with issues, and it is not as wide spread as Ford says, just search the Mustang forums. Even though I prefer to shift my own gears, the A6 in the new 5.0's are pretty amazing. One of my freinds traded his M6 that was giving him hell in for one. The gearing in 1 and 2 is higher in the A6 and they tend to run as good if not better then the M6. Plus the "S" mode will hold gears longer and not shift into O/D. Just some FYI.

Mods do nothing for resale. In fact, they decrease the value of the car because more people would prefer to have an unmodded car. Also, you're probably not going to get 22k since people are getting brand new ones for 23k. Time for a part out!

This ^^ considering you're getting real brembos (even bargain ones) for $1200 from the factory is worth it. especially with how easily that engine makes power, and while its not the heaviest by far thats still a lot of car to be slowing down.

What are your plans? Strictly straight line racing?

If not, I would highly suggest you look into the brembo and track package. Those will run in the 35's though...

I also highly suggest you make a post in your local NATOR section and locally part out as much as you can. Then sell the rest on the forums.

I recently sold my '11 MS3 bone stock. I would have never traded it in or sold it with mods. You can get a whole lot more $$ by parting out and use it as down payment.

Carmax offered me 18.5K for my '11 genpu with 13K miles. Went to a dealer, they initially offered 18. Talked them up to 21,500 and that gave me a tax saving of around $1300. I couldn't pass it up.

Good luck either way. I considered a 5.0 as well, but it didn't fit my track/autox needs, so I went with the evo.

Personally its your decision, but some things to consider would be:

You will look like the other 90+% of America that owns a mustang. It is a base model. How much is the dealership willing to play ball with you so that you have a little room for upgrades, because trust me you will want to?

Is it a color that you can live with, rather than a just in the moment vehicle deal?

RWD and bad weather=Biotch

but there is also an unlimited performance market out there.

Again its your call, just make sure whatever you do you do not have remorse

I'd look for a leftover 2012 with brembo package. I priced one out at just about $27K about a month ago. The pure stripper GT was under $26K. I like the new look of the 2013 but I like saving 3K more.

I was gonna go with a stripper GT but I'm glad I didn't. The interior is much nicer, I love the heated seats and Sync. The stock brakes are fine for daily driving and stop great. If you're gonna track the car get the Brembo package for sure. Mine is my daily driver and I like the way it rides. I did a 250 mile trip to a bike race recently, averaged 25 mpg with my tow hitch rack and bike at 70 mph with my 3.73 rear.

Part out your car as with mods, you won't get your money back and your car is almost the same as what I had (2010, Red, 18k miles) when I traded it in after returning it back to stock minus the aftermarket wheels I gave them and I still have the stock wheels for sale with Blizzaks on them. Anyways, almost every place was offering $16-$17,200 on trade, and I ended up getting $18,200 in the end for it and I traded it in on a Vette. If they will give you $18k for it stocked out, I would jump on that in a heart beat if you really want the Mustang. Make sure the Stang is a stick though.

built two 2007 mustangs myself owned an 09 challenger rt and a built ford lightning, it's really sad with the amount of fuel those cars consume just to go fast, mustangs can turn real good and make unlimited power and is very mod friendly, the challenger had gobbs of power stock from the factory but turned like a boat, the lightning was a badass truck everyday and a blast to drive. I got rid of my V8s because i believe in other areas in driving dynamics i believe in measureing power to weight, whats a good daily driver, and the experience. I traded those cars for my speed and never looked back again. The decision is yours dude drive what makes you happy but for me i believe in more than just hp numbers.
